Abstract:
In a system having a plurality of apparatuses connected via a communication line, one apparatus serving as a master unit performs processing on data stored in the other apparatus or apparatuses. The apparatus serving as a master unit generates a work designation message containing a program statement and transmits it to the other apparatuses. The apparatus, receiving the message, performs data processing based on the message and transfers the message to another apparatus in a predetermined order. All the apparatuses connected to the communication line perform processing based on a received message and the processing is completed when the message is returned back to the master unit.
Abstract:
In an electronic appliance equipped with a light emitting apparatus (30), a transparent sheet member (31) having a character, a pattern and others is arranged on a front surface of a transmission type flat-shaped light emitting apparatus (32). A colored sheet member (33) is arranged behind this light emitting apparatus. Openings (21) are formed in these colored sheet member (31), light emitting apparatus (32), and transparent sheet member (33). These openings are communicated therethrough. A pointer shaft (19 and 20) of a gear train mechanism (17) for indicating a present time instant is penetrated through the openings. Hands (22 and 23) are rotatably driven above the transparent sheet member (31). When the light emitting apparatus (32) is turned OFF, the colored sheet member (33) can be observed through the transparent sheet member (31) and the transparent light emitting apparatus (32). Accordingly, this colored sheet member (33) may provide high-grade feelings and better decorative feelings. When the light emitting apparatus (32) is turned ON, the emitted light can illuminate the hands (22 and 23) via the transparent sheet member (31).
Abstract:
An electrically controlled birifringence type liquid crystal display panel has a pictograph (picto) display area and character display areas. Character codes are stored in a DDRAM (301) and color attribute data indicating the display colors of characters are stored in a CCRAM (302), both in one-to-one association with the character display areas. Character patterns for character codes stored in the DDRAM (301) are read from a character generator (303), and, simultaneously color attribute data in the CCRAM (304) is read out. A segment driver (407) controls voltages to be applied to the liquid crystal display panel based on the character pattern and the color attribute data, for displaying the characters in arbitrary colors. Color attribute data which specifies the display color of each of pixels constituting a pictograph is set in a picto RAM (302). The color attribute data of the individual segments are read from the picto RAM (302) at the timing for displaying a pictograph, and the segment driver (407) controls voltages to be applied to the liquid crystal display panel in accordance with this color attribute data, for displaying pictograph on the pictograph display area.
Abstract:
A wristwatch (1) is provided with a cover member (3) attached to a wristwatch case (2) by a coupling portion (3) in an openable/closable manner. A liquid crystal display device (4) to display time is incorporated in the cover member (3). A retaining section (7) for retaining a disk-like data memory is provided on the upper surface of the wristwatch case (2). The data memory in the retaining section (7) is securely held with the cover member (3) closed. Data in the disk memory (9) is read and processed by the electronic circuitry (2b) of a watch, and is sent to the liquid crystal display device (4) via a flexible circuit board (2e). The data is then converted into a time which is in turn displayed. The data memory can therefore be very easily attached or detached, and is securely held. The wristwatch itself can be made compact. Replacing the data memory with another one can provide advantages such as displaying various types of data.
Abstract:

The image data processing unit (3) includes a data storage unit (34) for storing received image data and the like, a CPU (31) for editing image data based on an input of output format information, and a printer (5) for outputting the edited image data. The personal computer (4) includes a CPU (41) for editing received image data.
Abstract:
A plurality of print data items are previously input and stored in a RAM. Each of the print data items is represented by a pointer n. When processing starts, print lengths (Ln) of the print data items are calculated (S1). The print lengths (Ln) of the print data items, whose corresponding print-finished flags Sn and addition-finished flags Kn are not set, are added to total print length L in order while setting the addition-finished flags Kn (S3 to S7). When the total print length L becomes equal to maximum print length I, which has the same length as each of the inks on an ink ribbon (S8, S11), or when a value of the pointer n is greater than the number of the print data items Na (S10), images corresponding to the print data items, whose addition-finished flags Kn are set and print-finished flags Sn are reset, are printed (S14).
Abstract:
A thin ribbon cassette (16) is set on a tape winding device and its vertical-direction position is fixed by a position restricting member (18) provided on a back of a cover for an apparatus body. When the ribbon cassette (16) is thin in correspondence to a narrow width of an ink ribbon (15), a quantity of lowering of a ribbon winding top (5) engaged with a reel (16-1) of the cassette (16) is small. The biasing force of a clutch spring (7) compressed depending on the quantity of lowering of the ribbon winding top (5) is small, the force of a winding drive gear (6) which presses a clutch plate (4-1) through a felt (12) is small, the frictional force of the felt (12) is small, and the torque of the rotational shaft (4) is small. This torque is just suitable for winding an ink ribbon narrower long ink ribbon having a corresponding small tensile strength. When a thicker ink ribbon cassette (22) is set on the apparatus body, the quantity of lowering of the ribbon winding top (5) is large, and the biasing force of the clutch spring (7) is correspondingly large, so that the torque of the rotational shaft (4) is large in correspondence to a long wide ink ribbon (21).
Abstract:
A document output apparatus outputs a document made up of plural cells in such a manner that either the characters entered in cells or the backgrounds of the cells are colored in accordance with the kinds of data assigned to the cells. The document output apparatus has plural color tables, and each of these color tables stores plural color information corresponding to respective values of the data. When one of the color tables is designated, color information corresponding to the values of the cells are retrieved from the designated color table. The cells are drawn in the colors defined in the designated color table. Accordingly, it is possible to eliminate the need to define color information for each of the cells of the document.
Abstract:
When chat is performed with remote persons by using a personal computer communication service, even if the conversation data is displayed in a disordered chat style, a display having good visible readability can be performed such that conversation data of the persons who participate the chat are independently displayed in specific styles. For example, when the contents of the communication buffer in which all of the conversational data are stored are transferred to the storage device as a file, it is determined whether the data is transmission data or reception data. If the data is the reception data, the reception data is added with predetermined modification information, such as an inverted display and then stored in the file. When the contents of the file are output, only the reception data is modified according to the modification information and then output.
Abstract:
An FM radio receiver receives and displays program data which is affixed with a return destination box number and return form type data and has been transmitted from an FM broadcasting station (1) in the multiplexed form on FM broadcast radio waves. In responding to a displayed program through the FM radio receiver, first, the FM radio receiver (2) reads a return form corresponding to the return form type data from a ROM card (24) and displays the form. A user inputs return message data according to the displayed return form. FM radio receiver (2) transmits the return destination box number data in addition to the return message data to a service center (5). The service center (5) stores the received return message data in a box corresponding to the return destination box number data affixed to the received return message data. The return message data is edited and collected box by box. The edited and/or collected results are sent to the FM broadcasting station (1) as needed.
