Abstract: 1380946 Pesticidal amides of phosphorus acids CIBAGEIGY AG 21 July 1972 [22 July 1971 30 May 1972] 34283/72 Heading C2P The invention comprises compounds of Formula I where R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl, R 2 is hydrogen, methyl orethyl, R 3 is C 2-6 alkenyl, C 2-6 alkynyl, C 2-6 cyanoalkyl, C 1-6 alkyl which is optionally interrupted by one or more oxygen or sulphur atoms, phenyl, benzyl or 1-phenylethyl, R 4 and R 5 are hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl or C 2-5 alkenyl or alkynyl and X is oxygen or sulphur. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared (a) by reacting a compound of Formula II where Me is hydrogen (in which case an acidbinding agent is used) or an alkali metal with a compound of Formula III where Hal is halogen, (b) by reacting a compound of Formula V with compounds of Formula VI and Formula VII simultaneously or in succession, (c) by reacting a compound of Formula VIII with a compound of Formula II, and reacting the compound produced, which may be isolated, with a compound of Formula VII, or (d) by reacting a compound of Formula IX with compounds of Formula VI and II. The starting material 0-2-methyl-2-carbomethoxyvinylphosphorothiodichloridate may be prepared by reacting the sodium salt of hydroxymethacrylic acid methyl ester with thiophosphoryl chloride. The compounds of Formula I have insecticidal and acaricidal properties and may be used as the active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions. The invention also comprises a compound of Formula I in a container which bears instructions for use of the compounds as pesticides.
