Abstract:
The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a front wall and a rear wall of flexible material forming a bag, said rear wall having an opening for receiving a stoma, and being provided with an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to a user's skin, said wafer having a hole being aligned with the opening for receiving the stoma, wherein the opening of the rear wall has an edge being adapted to be secured to a surface of the adhesive wafer facing away from the user in an attachment zone surrounding the hole of the wafer, and wherein a first part of the edge of the opening of the rear wall is permanently secured to the surface of the wafer in a corresponding first part of the attachment zone, and a second, remaining part of the edge of the opening of the bag is prepared for adhesive sealing of the same to the remaining second part of the attachment zone. This allows for a simple evaluation of the stoma area for cutting the wafer for adapting the same to the specific stoma and manipulation and location of an adhesive wafer in relation to the stoma is enabled.
Abstract:
A layered adhesive construction comprising a backing layer and a first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive, where the first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive have different composition, and the second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive is at least partly interposed between the first layer of hydrocolloid adhesive and the backing layer, the first and second adhesive layers consisting of a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase where the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises a hydrocolloids providing a higher moisture absorption capacity and higher initial rate of absorption to the adhesive layer than the hydrocolloids in the discontinuous phase of the second adhesive layer, and the discontinuous phase of second layer of adhesive comprises hydrocolloids providing a higher cohesion following moisture absorption to the adhesive compared to the hydrocolloid in the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer.
Abstract:
A disposable closure for an artificial intestinal or urethral opening in the form of a body having a cup form having an internal space being capable of accommodating a stoma, characterised in that the rim of the open end of the cup is provided with a flange part stretching essentially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the closure and that the surface of the flange facing away from the closed end of the cup is provided with a skin-friendly adhesive may be used for safe temporary closing of a stoma without the risk of causing mechanical damage to the stomal wall and which prevents intestinal contents from passing the closure and which is easy to remove after use. It may also be used for protection of the outer surface of a stoma when applying a fresh collecting bag and furthermore as an aid for the user for an easier manner to place a fresh body side member or a one-piece receiving bag 'correctly' ensuring a correct coupling and sealing.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer or pad for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer or pad having a hole for receiving a stoma, and an optionally separately exchangeable receiving member or bag secured to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the ostomy, said ostomy appliance further comprising a sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma wherein the sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma, said sealing member having a hole for accommodating the stoma and said sealing member having balanced plastic and elastic properties allowing an adaptation of the hole of the ostomy appliance to a stoma by a temporary enlarging the hole by everting or rolling up the inner rim of the hole for accommodating the stoma. When the ostomy appliance of the invention has been placed over and around the stoma the adhesive sealing member may recover essentially to the original form to fit snugly to the stoma. Preferably at least the area of a release liner covering the separate sealing member is provided with a guide for adaptation of the hole of an ostomy appliance to the size of an ostomy, said guide being visible from the side of the release liner facing the sealing member.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a kit comprising at least one base plate for adhesive attachment to the skin around at least one body opening. The kit further comprises at least one separate peripheral device for attachment to the base plate. The base plate comprises a backing layer, having a proximal side facing the user during use, where a skin friendly adhesive is disposed on said proximal side of the backing layer and wherein the base plate is an intact base plate thereby allowing a hole to be cut at a desired position before use. The separate peripheral device comprises a continuous adhesive ring for permanent adhesive attachment between the continuous adhesive ring of the peripheral device and the distal side of the backing layer of the base plate. This allows the user to provide a custom fit for irregular body openings.
Abstract:
An adhesive wafer for an ostomy faceplate or wound dressing comprising a back ing layer (1), said backing layer having one surface facing the skin, said surface comprising a first and a second adhesive zone (2, 3) being separated from each others by a void volume (4), said void volume being defined by the backing layer (5), the first and the second adhesive zones and the skin surface and wherein the first and the second adhesive zones are capable of moving independently of each others with respect to the lateral plane of the backing layer.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising a front wall (2) and a rear wall (3) of flexible material forming a bag, said rear wall having an opening (4) for receiving a stoma (12), and said rear wall (3) also being provided with an adhesive wafer (5) for securing the appliance to a user’s skin, said wafer (5) having a first hole (6) being aligned with the opening (4) for receiving the stoma (12), wherein the opening (4) has an edge (7,7) being secured to the surface of the adhesive wafer (5) facing away from the user in an attachment zone surrounding the hole (6) of the wafer, said ostomy appliance further comprising a sealing member (13) having a second hole (14) for receiving the stoma (12), wherein the sealing member has a flange (15) projecting from an outer rim thereof, said flange (15) having an outer diameter greater than the diameter of the first hole (6), and said flange (15) comprising a skin-friendly adhesive at a first surface to be placed on the abdomen of an ostomate, and said flange (15) comprising a second surface being capable of adhering to the adhesive at the surface of the wafer (5) to be secured to the user’s skin enables the use of a sealing member together wit one-piece ostomy appliance.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance 1 comprising a front wall 2 and a rear wall 3 of flexible material forming a bag, said rear wall 3 having an opening 4 for receiving a stoma, and said rear wall also being provided with an adhesive wafer 5 for securing the appliance 1 to a user’s skin, said wafer having a hole 6 being aligned with the opening 4 for receiving the stoma, wherein the opening has an edge 7, 7’ being secured to the surface of the adhesive wafer 5 facing away from the user in an attachment zone 8 surrounding the hole 6 of the wafer 5, wherein a first part of the edge 7 of the opening 4 of the gab is secured to the surface of the wafer 5 in a corresponding first part of the attachment zone, and wherein a second, remaining part 7’ of the edge of the opening 4 of the bag is prepared for adhesive sealing of the same to the remaining second part of the attachment zone renders it possible for a nurse to observe the stoma area during adaptation of such a sealing member when applying one-piece appliances.
