Abstract:
Disclosed is a method of attaching an adhesive, such as an adhesive on an adhesive base plate of an ostomy device, to a skin surface of a user. The method involves the steps of providing an adhesive, for instance on a base plate of an ostomy device. The adhesive can be disposed on a skin-facing surface of a backing layer. Also provided is a solvent capable of at least partly dissolving the adhesive. The solvent is brought into contact with the adhesive and the adhesive is applied to the skin of the user. Also disclosed is a kit of parts including an adhesive and a solvent capable of at least partly dissolving the adhesive.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising an adhesive wafer for attachment to the body, the wafer comprising a skin facing surface and a non skin-facing surface, the non skin-facing surface being provided with a backing layer, the skin facing surface of the wafer comprises a central area comprising a substantially non-absorbent protective adhesive, an intermediate area surrounding the central area, said area comprising a substantially non-absorbent soft adhesive, and an edge area surrounding the intermediate area, said edge area comprising a substantially non-absorbent protective adhesive.
Abstract:
Accordingly, the present invention relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive composition consisting of a continuous phase comprising cross-linked polyalkyleneoxide polymer and a discontinuous phase comprising water absorbent hydrophilic agents wherein a) the water absorbent hydrophilic agent(s) is present in an amount between 1 and 40% w/w of the total adhesive composition; and b) the continuous phase comprises the reaction product (X) of: (i) a polyalkyleneoxide polymer having one or more unsaturated end groups, and where more than 90% w/w of the polyalkylene oxide polymer consist of polymerised alkyleneoxide moities having three or more carbon atoms, and (ii) an organosiloxane comprising one or more Si—H groups, carried out in the presence of an addition reaction catalyst. The present invention also relates to medical devices comprising such pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for applying an adhesive composition to the skin of a user and for removing the adhesive composition from the skin. The method includes the steps of providing an adhesive composition including a switchable adhesive; applying the adhesive composition to the skin; exposing the switchable adhesive to a first switch activator, thereby switching the switchable adhesive from an application state to a wear state; exposing the switchable adhesive to a second switch activator, thereby switching the switchable adhesive from the wear state to a removal state; and removing the adhesive composition from the skin of the user.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a composition including a polymer and a switch initiator. The composition can be switched from a first liquid state to a second adhesive state by activation of the switch initiator. The composition has in the first liquid state a complex viscosity |η*| below 0.4 MPa s; and the composition has in the second adhesive state a second repeated peel force above 1 N/25 mm.

Abstract:
Abstract The present invention relates to a two-component sealant comprising a first part and a second part wherein a) the first part (X) comprises: (i) a polyalkyleneoxide polymer having one or more unsaturated end groups (ii) an addition reaction catalyst b) the second part (Y) comprises: (i) an organosiloxane comprising one or more Si-H groups. The present invention also relates to medical devices used in connection with the sealant, mixing devices for delivering and mixing the first part and the second part of the sealant, and methods for applying the sealant.
