    Abstract: Process for mfg. Pb accumulator electrodes comprising an inert, conducting collector surrounded by active material of Pb or a Pb cpd. with a partly reticular polymer where: A. An agent causing partial reticulation is added to a satd. aq. soln. of the polymer contg 5-20 wt.% catalyst, the novelty being the following steps: B. To soln. A at 50-100 degrees C is added 20-50 pts. wt. per pt. wt. of polymer, of a soluble Pt salt compatible with the polymer. C. The soln. is cast in a mould contg. the collector at a temp. near the crystallisation pt. of the ternary system polymer/Pb salt/water. D. The mould is cooled, the cake removed and dipped in a satd. alkaline soln. of Pb(OH)2, then washed in cold water, dried at 20-60 degrees C, and compressed at 2-10 bars/cm2. The process gives pronounced redn. in electrode wt. and the process can be automated for mass prodn.

    Abstract: Accumulator is described which comprises an anode and a cathode immersed in a soln. of H2SO4 as electrolyte, the electrodes comprising a Pb-Sb grid coated with an active material. The accumulator also includes a sepg. membrane close to the cathode and comprising a delating resin having a macroporous polystyrene skeleton, the resin chain contg. aminophosphonic gps. to capture some or all of the Sb that passes into soln. in the electrolyte. Sb is used in electrodes to improve flow during their prepn., as well as the contact between the grid and the active material during use. However, during use, Sb goes into soln. in the electrolyte, leading to reactions with evolution of H2 (danger of explosion) and eventual deposition of metallic Sb; in addn., SbH3 (toxic) may be formed. Use of sepg. membranes of electrical resistance compatible with the optimum functioning of the accumulator prevents migration of SbO+ ions towards the cathode and overcomes the above problems. The method is esp. useful for batteries working in confined environments, e.g. in submerines.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of electrodes for an electrochemical generator consisting in preparing an aqueous solution of partially reticulated polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and in adding zinc acetate thereto, in pouring the solution into a mold in which at least one collecting grid has been previously arranged, in cooling the solution and removing from the mold the resulting cake which is immersed in potassium, in washing, drying and compressing this cake which is then coated with said aqueous PVA solution.
