Abstract:
A process for the preparation of electrodes for an electrochemical generator consisting in preparing an aqueous solution of partially reticulated polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and in adding zinc acetate thereto, in pouring the solution into a mold in which at least one collecting grid has been previously arranged, in cooling the solution and removing from the mold the resulting cake which is immersed in potassium, in washing, drying and compressing this cake which is then coated with said aqueous PVA solution.

Abstract:
Method for securing by thermocompression a tube made of beta- or beta''-alumina and a support made of insulating ceramic in an electrochemical sodium-sulphur generator and electrochemical generators making use thereof. According to the invention, the tube 1 made of beta- or beta''-alumina is subjected to a galvanic separation treatment 4 at the level of the surfaces used for securing to the said support 6.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a semi-permeable membrane for lead acid batteries. The membrane has a microporous structure comprising a first polymer and a second polymer closely mixed together, the first polymer being poly (2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate), known as reticulated poly HEMA, characterized by the fact that the second polymer comprises one polymer or a mixture of several different polymers chosen from among polyoxyethylene glycol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, copolymers of acrylic and methacrylic acid, polyacrylates and polymethacrylates of alkyl, and the copolymers of the acrylates and methacrylates of alkyls.

Abstract:
In this invention, according to a first embodiment, the collector part of the electrode is formed by a full plate on which are deposited longitudinal strips of polytetrafluorethylene before the depositing of the electrochemically active part. In a second embodiment, the collector part is formed by a grid which is coated, before the depositing of the electrochemically active part, with a zinc oxide paste and polytetrafluorethylene In this way, one or more spaces are provided between the collector part and the electrochemically active part, the result thus being that the gases given off by the reactional process may escape easily by following the space(s), thus avoiding any deformation of the electrode.
Abstract:
A battery containing an alkaline electrolyte, having within a container, said electrolyte and two electrodes separated by a separator; said separator being made of a partially reticulated polyvinyl acetal produced by the action of at least one aldehyde on polyvinyl alcohol; preferably an aromatic aldehyde, which may also have at least one hydroxyl radical, being used together with formaldehyde.
