    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perfectly remove discoloration without influencing characteristics other than a hue at all by treating with a peroxide a discolored grafted cellulose derivative obtained by ring-opening graft polymerization of a cyclic ester to a cellulose derivative having a hydroxyl group. SOLUTION: Preferably, a cellulose derivative having a hydroxyl group is cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate or the like and a cyclic ester is ε-caprolactone. A peroxide is suitably an inorganic peroxide selected among hydrogen peroxide, zinc peroxide, calcium peroxide, strontium peroxide, sodium peroxide, lead peroxide and the like, or an organic peroxide selected among peracetic acid, di-tert.-butyl peroxide, bis(α,α-dimethylbenzyl)peroxide and the like. The treatment temperature is 0-250 deg.C, preferably around ordinary temperature. The contact time is 1 min to 48 hr, preferably 1-12 hr.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having mechanical properties same as these of general purpose plastics, and high biodegradability by compounding a polycaprolactone with an aliphatic polyester-carbonate. SOLUTION: The objective composition is obtained by compounding (B) 1-200 pts.wt. polycaprolactone with (A) 100 pts.wt. aliphatic polyester-carbonate. The component A is preferably obtained by copolymerizing a dicarboxylic acid component comprising succinic acid and/or adipic acid, with a diol component of 1,4-butanediol, and an organic carbonate compound. The ratio of the copolymerized organic carbonate compound is preferably 0.5-50 mol.% based on the total of the succinic acid and/or the adipic acid, and the organic carbonate compound. An inorganic additive (preferably talc) in the amount of 5-80 pts.wt. is preferably further compounded therewith.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To markedly increase a reaction rate in the presence of a small amount of an auxiliary catalyst by employing a beryllium compound as the cocatalyst, when methyl acetate is reacted with CO in the presence of a rhodium compound and methyl iodine as main catalysts. CONSTITUTION:Methyl acetate or dimethyl ether is reacted with carbon monoxide in the presence of a rhodium compound (e.g. rhodium iodide) and methyl iodine as main catalysts and further in the presence of a beryllium compound (e.g. beryllium hydroxide) as a cocadtalyst preferably in a ratio of 0.5-50 moles per mole of the rhodium compound to produce acetic anhydride. The reaction is preferably continuously performed in acetic anhydride and/or acetic acid as reaction solvents at a reaction temperature of 150-250 deg.C under a pressure of 20-150atm.
