    Abstract: Preparation of polyarylene ether ketones (A), comprises reacting an aromatic dihalo compound with a bisphenol and/or halogen phenols in the presence of alkali and/or alkaline earth carbonate in a high boiling aprotic solvent, to obtain the polyarylene etherketone; wet crushing the hardened reaction mixture in present of water; washing the mixture with an organic solvent and water; and drying the washed product, where the reaction mixture with a moisture content of less than 1 wt.% is fed for two-stage washing.
