PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved washing method capable of clearly decreasing the residual content of salt and a reaction solvent (generally diphenyl sulfone) in the production of a polyarylene ether ketone without paying additional installation cost necessary in a washing method in a superatmospheric range. SOLUTION: A polyarylene ether ketone is produced by (a) a step to react an aromatic dihalide compound with bisphenol and/or a halogenated phenol in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate and/or an alkaline earth metal carbonate in an aprotic solvent having high boiling point to obtain the polyarylene ether ketone, (b) a step to crush the coagulated reaction mixture in the presence of water in wet state, (c) a step to wash with an organic solvent, (d) a step to wash with water and (e) a step to dry the washed product, wherein the wet-crushed reaction mixture having a residual moisture content of at least 1 mass% is supplied to the above two-stage washing step. A process for preparing a polyarylene ether ketone is provided to manage and control the molar mass better, thereby setting the desired molar mass in a controlled manner. A process for preparing a polyarylene ether ketone comprises reacting an aromatic dihalogen compound with a bisphenol in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate and/or an alkaline earth metal carbonate in a high-boiling point solvent, wherein the molar mass in the reaction is established by bringing the molar mass to a desired value via further addition of a bisphenol or an organic halogen compound to the reaction in the course of polycondensation. Preferably, the dihalogen compound used in polycondensation is 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone, and the bisphenol used in polycondensation is hydroquinone.

The invention relates to a moulding material containing the following components: I. 50 to 99.98 weight parts of thermoplastic polyester, II. 0.02 to 5 weight parts of a copolymer containing polysiloxane blocks and polyester blocks, III. 0 to 49.98 weight parts of additional additives selected from other polymers, filling materials and pigments, anti-static agents, reinforcement materials and stabilisers. The total of all of the weight parts is equal to 100. Said moulding material is used in the production of metallized moulding parts.

Preparation of polyarylene ether ketones (A), comprises reacting an aromatic dihalo compound with a bisphenol and/or halogen phenols in the presence of alkali and/or alkaline earth carbonate in a high boiling aprotic solvent, to obtain the polyarylene etherketone; wet crushing the hardened reaction mixture in present of water; washing the mixture with an organic solvent and water; and drying the washed product, where the reaction mixture with a moisture content of less than 1 wt.% is fed for two-stage washing.
