Abstract: A method for discharging fluid from a syringe and for mitigating occlusion conditions includes actuating the plunger of a syringe into a barrel. The method monitors fluid pressure within the barrel of the syringe and determines that an occlusion exists when the fluid pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold. The method actuates the plunger out of the barrel by a predetermined amount in response to the detected occlusion and actuates the plunger of the syringe into the barrel until a measured fluid pressure within the barrel of the syringe exceeds another predetermined threshold.

Abstract: Medical devices may be attached to a support pole located near their assigned patient. A typical attachment involves a brace fixed to the medical device and a threaded screw that can be tightened to squeeze a section of the support pole positioned between the brace and the screw. The user manually adjusts the clamp to poles of different diameter. Such positioning and adjustment faces a number of constraints, for example, it can be time consuming, there is risk of cross-threading, there is risk of human error (i.e. not tightening enough). Disclosed is a rack apparatus comprising at least one support pole having a first end portion and a second end portion; at least one of a clamp assembly, hanger, or handle attached to the first end portion of the support pole; a clamp comprising: a housing including first and second tracks; a fixed gripper coupled to the housing; a driven member configured to slide within the first and second tracks of the housing; a movable gripper operatively coupled to the driven member; and an actuator configured to move the driven member towards a first position to thereby move the movable gripper towards the fixed gripper, the actuator further configured to move the driven member towards a second position to thereby move the movable gripper away from the fixed gripper; at least one mount connector; at least one alignment feature operatively coupled to the support pole; a base member attached to the second end portion of the support pole; and wherein a medical device connector is disposed on the clamp and is configured to operatively engage with at least one of the at least one mount connector to receive at least one of a network connection and power for the medical device. Also disclosed is a system comprising a rack apparatus.
