Abstract: A ceramic hydrodynamic bearing used as a radial or a thrust bearing in a spindle motor for a hard disk driver. The bearing includes a ceramic bearing base having hydrodynamic pressure generating grooves. A sliding surface of the bearing base is irradiated with an energy beam with a high energy density to remove said material, thereby forming hydrodynamic pressure generating groove, and at the same time the grooves are coated with a modification layer that is formed by melting the ceramic material that constitutes said ceramic bearing base with the energy beam and by solidifying said ceramic bearing base.

SOLUTION: This plug for seedling has completely opened upper and lower ends. Preferably, the area of the upper opening of the seedling plug is larger than that of the lower opening and an opening is formed also on the side face of the seedling plug. The raising seedling tray is produced by holding the seedling plug on a tray having a depressed holding part of a size sufficient for holding the seedling plug and having a supporting face on the bottom.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a process for carbonizing biomass, which are carbonization technics for combustible wastes, particularly for biomass, generated in quantities on a small scale but irregularly, prevent or control the discharge of injurious materials such as dioxins on a small scale, and can produce a vegetable coal useful as fuel, a water cleaner and a soil conditioner that can be stored safely. SOLUTION: In the device for carbonizing biomass, a batch carbonization chamber 10, that carbonizes biomass by the heat generated in the chamber, is arranged in the lower part, and a gas combustion chamber 20, that causes to self-burn the gas stream containing volatile components discharged from the carbonization chamber 10, is arranged in the upper part, a temperature- sensing means 22, that detects the gas combustion temperature, being arranged in the gas combustion chamber 20, combustion air supply means comprising blowers 13 and 23 being respectively arranged in the carbonization chamber 10 and the gas combustion chamber 20, and a damper mechanism 31, that can isolate the carbonization chamber 10 from the gas combustion chamber 20, is arranged between the both chambers, the damper mechanism 31 being controlled by the power output of the temperature-sensing means 22.

A dehumidifier 6 is provided in the outlet of a compressor 5 for introducing a raw material gas and simultaneously a discharge port 24 of a discharge gas piping 23 of an oxygen enriching device or heatless drier 8 passing the dehumidified raw material gas through is provided in the device.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance machining accuracy by applying surface finish to a portion forming a slide surface of a bearing base body made of ceramics after being sintered, bonding an organic material for absorbing a YAG laser beam according to a predetermined pattern of a machining groove so as to radiate the laser beam along the bonded pattern. CONSTITUTION:A portion of a slide surface of a bearing base body 1 made of ceramics after being sintered is applied to surface finish. A black organic material capable of efficiently absorbing a YAG laser beam is bonded onto the slide surface according to a pattern of a predetermined machining groove, thus obtaining portions 2a as shown by slash marks. A YQG laser processor radiates a YAGQ switch pulse laser beam onto the portions 2a with the organic material bonded thereto, to machine the groove 2. The bearing base body 1 is immersed into 1-trichloroethane, followed by ultrasonic cleaning, and then, the residual organic material is removed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raising seedling and culturing method enabling the fixed plating without taking the seedling out of a raising seedling tray, and accordingly, preventing the damage on the root of the seedling and resulting in uniform root taking period and growth of the planted seedling, and provide a connected plug to be used in the above method. SOLUTION: The connected plug is composed of a plurality of raising seedling vessels each having an opened top and a bottom opened to a size sufficient for the downward extension of the root of the leaf vegetables. The vessels are connected with each other in an inseparable state in a row and each vessel is filled with coarse-grained soil composed of particles having porous surface. The seed of leaf vegetable is sowed on the connected plug, the surface of the soil is covered with soil and the seedling is grown in the vessel. At a storage to enable the fixed planting of the grown seedling of the leaf vegetable, the connected plug holding the seedling is planted in a culture bed holding a culture medium composed of coarse-grained soil. The medium is pumice particles having a diameter of 1-5.6 mm.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To save water by utilizing a portion of treated water as cooling water of an ozonizer. CONSTITUTION:A hair catcher 2, a forced feeding pump 3, a filter 4, a boiler 7 are provided from the upper stream on a circuit pipe R1 connecting an inlet catchment port 1a of a pool 1 and a circulated water inflow port 1b of the pool 1, and from the vicinity of an ejecting port of the forced feeding pump 3, a branched circuit pipe R2 being interposed with a gas-liquid mixer 5 and a reaction tank 6 on the way is branched, and water is returned to the upper stream of the forced feeding pump 3. The gas-liquid mixer 5 is connected to the ozonizer 8 with an ozone supplying pipe R3. A portion of the pool water is introduced to the ozonizer 8 from the more upper stream part than the gas- liquid mixer 5 of the branched circuit pipe R2 through a cooling water supplying pipe R4 and, after the ozonizer 8 is cooled with it, it is returned to a circle system of the pool water from the vicinity of the outlet of a reaction tank 6 of the branched circuit pipe R2 through a cooling water pipe R5.
