Provided are a method and an apparatus for improving resolution in comparison with lowering resolution of an original image and increasing a compression rate in comparison with directly compressing an original image based on information of the original image. The method includes the steps of subtracting a pixel value of a reference image from a pixel value of an image to be encoded to thereby create a residue signal, lowering resolution by down-sampling the residue signal, and encoding the down-sampled residue signal.

Provided are a method for authoring location based web contents, and an apparatus and method for receiving a location based web data service in a digital mobile terminal. The method for authoring location-based web contents, includes the steps of authoring a voice web document related to a location by using a voice-based web markup language, putting a location information-related tag inside the voice web document, to thereby create a location-related voice web document, authoring a graphic web document related to a location by using a graphic-based web markup language (e.g., HyperText Markup Language), and integrating the location-related voice web document with the graphic web document.

Provided is a system and method for transmitting and receiving 3D video based on digital broadcasting. The system includes: an encoder for generating 2D ES and 3D supplementary ES by encoding 2D video and 3D supplementary data; a packetizer for generating 2D video PES and 3D supplementary PES by packetizing the 2D video ES and the 3D supplementary ES; a PSI generator for generating a PSI; a TS generator for generating 2D video TS and 3D supplementary TS for the 2D video PES and the 3D supplementary PES; a multiplexer for multiplexing the transport streams to transmit the 2D video TS as a normal stream and transmit the 3D supplementary TS, the PSI TS and 3D video synch data TS as robust stream; and a modulator for modulating the multiplexed TS according to a DTV specification and transmitting the modulated TS.

Provided is an apparatus for coding a video, an audio and additional data according to a conditional access of terrestrial DMB. The apparatus includes an analyzing unit for analyzing input stream; a scrambling control unit for selecting a stream to be scrambled according to a selection signal; a transport stream de-multiplexing unit for de-multiplexing the input stream received from the analyzing unit, parsing an audio, a video and additional data classified by a packet identifier (PID), and outputting a stream to be scrambled, a stream not to be scrambled and the packet identifier (PID) for the stream to be scrambled according to selection of the scrambling control unit; a control word generating unit for generating a control word; a scrambling unit for scrambling the stream to be scrambled which is outputted from the transport stream de-multiplexing unit based on the control word generated in the control word generating unit; a conditional access data generating unit for receiving the control word from the control word generating unit and generating conditional access data; and a transport stream re-multiplexing unit for receiving and re-multiplexing the stream to be scrambled from the scrambling unit, the stream not to be scrambled from the transport stream de-multiplexing unit.

Provided is a method for providing a DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service using an MPEG-4 object descriptor of a new structure to provide users with a realistic 3D image service while maintaining compatibility to a conventional DMB system, and a decoding apparatus and method for the DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service. The method includes the steps of: a) defining in a data service component type that a broadcast service is a DMB service, and defining a dimension of the DMB service in a user application type; and b) assigning a reference image and 3D additional information for a serviced 3D image as different streams which are independent from each other by using different object descriptors.

Provided is a method for providing three-dimensional (3D) contents service based on digital broadcasting. The method includes the steps of: a) extracting Program Association Table (PAT) information on Packet Identification (PID); b) acquiring Program Map Table (PMT) PID from the extracted PAT; c) analyzing version_number and Contents_type_descriptor and dividing typical broadcasting contents and 3D broadcasting contents; d) extracting the PID for each media stream formed for a reference image and a 3D additional information broadcasting service; e) extracting a corresponding media stream in the Transport Stream and transmitting the media stream to a corresponding decoder; and f) recovering an image of the transmitted media stream in the decoder and displaying the media stream.

Provided is a pre-equalization apparatus and method that can reduce time delay of an on-channel repeater. The pre-equalization apparatus reduces time delay in an on-channel repeater by generating a modified filter coefficient from a given filter coefficient and a pre-equalization filter coefficient after an up-sampling process and filtering up-sampled signals. The pre-equalization apparatus includes: a baseband signal generating unit for forming a baseband signal by combining an inputted signa, field sync signal, and segment sync signal; a pilot adding unit for adding a pilot signal to the baseband signal; an up-sampling unit for up-sampling the baseband signal having the pilot signal; a pre-equalization filter coefficient generating unit for generating a pre-equalization filter coefficient; a modified filter coefficient generating unit for generating a modified filter coefficient by using the pre-equalization filter coefficient and a given filter coefficient; and a filtering unit for filtering the up-sampled signal by using the modified filter coefficient.

The DMB apparatus for a high-quality video service includes: a source encoder for source-encoding audio and video signals into base layer streams and enhancement layer streams, individually; a base layer transmission processor for receiving the base layer streams from the source encoder, performing system encoding, multiplexing encoded base layer streams into transport streams, and outputting base layer transport streams; an enhancement layer transmission processor for receiving the enhancement layer streams from the source encoder, performing system encoding, multiplexing the encoded enhancement layer streams into enhancement layer transport streams, and outputting enhancement layer transport streams; and a layered digital broadcasting transmitter for receiving the base layer transport streams and the enhancement layer transport streams from the base layer transmission processor and the enhancement layer transmission processor, and modulating the base and enhancement layer transport streams into digital broadcasting signals.

Provided are an apparatus and method for predictive coding/decoding for improving a compression rate of multiview video using one or two additional reference frame buffers. The predictive encoding apparatus includes: a multiview reference picture providing unit for providing a reference picture for a predictive encoding according to temporal and spatial GOP structure information; a prediction unit for creating a vector by predicting which part of the reference picture inputted from the multiview reference picture providing unit is referred by a picture to currently encode; a transforming and quantizing unit for obtaining a difference signal between the predicted signal inputted from the prediction unit and a picture signal to currently encode, transforming the obtained difference signal, quantizing the transformed signal, and compressing the quantized signal; and an entropy encoding unit for encoding the quantized signal and the vectors according to a predetermined scheme and outputting the encoded signal.
