    Abstract: In a packet transmission system, especially wireless transmission system, where data is transmitted in packets at different error protection levels and where the error protection level of one packet (= the succeeding packet) may differ from the error protection level of a preceding packet without providing code termination between the said preceding and the said succeeding packet the performance may degrade in case a different error protection level is used by the preceding packet and the succeeding packet. The invention proposes in these cases to insert a supplementary packet between the preceding and the succeeding packet whereby the error protection level of the supplementary packet is higher than the lowest error protection level that is used either by the preceding or the succeeding packet.

    Abstract: A method and a device for providing timing information within a wireless communication system are described. The timing information is extracted from a received transmit signal. The inventive method comprises the steps of providing a training signal on the receiver side relating to a known signal portion of the transmit signal, scaling the training signal, quantizing the scaled training signal, correlating one or more parts of the received transmit signal with the scaled training signal to obtain one or more correlation results, and determining the timing information on the basis of the correlation results. Based on a signal energy within a time window of the received transmit signal incorrect timing information is detected.

    Abstract: Método para un sistema de transmisión por paquetes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), tal como un sistema de transmisión inalámbrica, utilizando dicho método codificación de convolución de corrección de errores en recepción, en el cual los datos se transmiten en paquetes a diferentes niveles de protección de errores, donde el nivel de protección de errores de un paquete (PDUN+1) puede diferir del nivel de protección de errores de un paquete precedente (PDUN) y donde no se proporciona terminación de código entre dicho paquete precedente (PDUN) y dicho siguiente (PDUN+1) caracterizado porque en caso de que se use un nivel de protección de errores diferente por el paquete precedente (PDUN) y por el paquete siguiente (PDUN+1), se inserta un paquete suplementario DUMMY-PDU (PDU-FICTICIA) (55, 56) entre el paquete precedente y el siguiente con lo cual el nivel de protección de errores del paquete suplementario DUMMY-PDU (PDU-FICTICIA) es más alto que el menor nivel de protección de errores que se usa bien por el paquete precedente PDUN, o el sucesivo PDUN+1.
