Disclosed is an apparatus and method for digital holographic table top display. The digital holographic table top display apparatus includes: a camera array configured to capture a plurality of channel images in an omni-directional range from a table by using a plurality of cameras; a controller configured to detect an observer from the plurality of channel images and to track a position of pupils of the observer in at least one channel image from which the observer is detected; and a display configured to reproduce a digital holographic image in a three-dimensional (3D) space according to the tracked position of the pupils.

The present invention proposes a digital holographic display apparatus including a light generating unit configured to generate coherent light, a spatial light modulator configured to reproduce 3-dimensional hologram images on a space by modulating the coherent light, a vertical viewing angle magnifying unit configured to expand a vertical viewing angle by vertically steering a beam that forms the hologram images through a first mirror, a horizontal viewing angle magnifying unit configured to expand a horizontal viewing angle by steering the beam to top of a table through a second mirror, and a control unit configured to control the special light modulator, the vertical viewing angle magnifying unit and the horizontal viewing angle magnifying unit in order the hologram images to be formed on an observation space for hologram. Accordingly, by expanding the horizontal and vertical viewing angles of hologram images, an observer may observe the hologram images more comfortably.

A method of generating a stereogram is disclosed. The method includes a first step of partially rendering a preset region of each of a plurality of images having different views to a memory, a second step of extracting a pixel at a corresponding location of the rendered preset region to generate a hogel image, and a third step of repeatedly performing the first step and the second step on a remaining region of each of the plural images to generate a hogel image sequence. Accordingly the stereogram generation method effectively generates a stereogram having high resolution.

A 3D broadcast retransmission apparatus in a 3D broadcast service providing system may include a remultiplexer to remultiplex 3D TV service information in a received stream of a first broadcast network, based on a retransmission scenario, and to generate a stream of a retransmission network, and a retransmission network transmitter to transmit the stream of the retransmission network through the retransmission network.

The method comprises receiving a plurality of different input streams, receiving a switching command for a first input stream that belongs to the plurality of input streams and that is now output, searching for an out-point of the first input stream and an in-point of a second input stream that is newly output, in response to the switching command, inserting a virtual P picture stream between the out-point and the in-point, and performing switching from the first input stream into the second input stream based on the out-point and the in-point.

Disclosed are a method and apparatus for providing a three-dimensional (3D) broadcast service using images with asymmetric aspect ratios and a method and apparatus for reproducing a 3D broadcast service. The method of providing the 3D broadcast service includes adjusting a second viewpoint image to be composed with a first viewpoint image into a 3D form with respect to the first viewpoint image and the second viewpoint image for 3D broadcasting, encoding the first viewpoint image and the adjusted second viewpoint image, and generating a broadcast stream of the first viewpoint image and a broadcast stream of the second viewpoint image by multiplexing the first viewpoint image and the second viewpoint image.
