Abstract: The side seal assembly consists of three main components: a hardened and precision ground side seal 12, a spring 14 and a housing 16 in which the side seal 12 and spring 14 are assembled. The side seal contains two tabs 22 that fit through a slot feature 24 in the housing. The tabs 22 on the side seal 12 slide through the housing slot 24 into a relief area 26 that allows the side seal 12 to turn 90 degrees and fall into a shallow pocket 28 that keeps the side seal 12 retained.

Abstract: The helix heated hoses 10 and 12 use two features to increase the flexibility. The first feature is a braided-coppcr heating element 14, which has increased flexibility over the prior art solid copper heating element. The element is spiral wound around the hose and held in place with a moisture barrier 16. The second feature is the helix twist 18 located just before the point where the hoses 10 and 12 attach to the manifold 20. The helix feature is created with the helix support 22, which initiates the twist around 24 inches back from the point of termination. The helix feature works to reduce the moment of inertia about the neutral axis 26 of the two supply hoses 10 and 12.

Abstract: The fluid section or head (10) for a plural component applicator can be easily assembled or removed from the air section (12) by turning the fluid head ⅛ of a turn. The fluid head (10) has four tabs (14) that protrude and engage with four undercut features (16) within the handle (12). Tabs (14) are inserted through corresponding openings (16) in the front (12a) of air section (12) and rotated such that tabs (14) are retained behind lips (18). A locking tab feature (20) in the hose manifold (24) mates to a recess feature (22) in the handle (12) to prevent the fluid section (10) from rotating.

Abstract: A two-piece collar (10) is rigidly clamped onto the hydraulic driver shaft (12) via two shoulder bolts (14). The collar halves (16) engage a tightly toleranced groove feature (18) on the spool (20) that is assembled onto the linear sensor shaft (22).
