Abstract: A pump system comprises a main pump (112), a lubricant system (110) and a controller (117). The main pump (112) includes a housing (118), a pump chamber defined by the housing (118) and a throat seal (124). The lubricant system (110) includes a lubricant pump (113), a lubricant gallery (130) defined within the housing (118) of the main pump (112) and a lubricant circuit (114) fluidly connecting the lubricant pump (113) and the lubricant gallery (130). The throat seal (124) is disposed adjacent to and between the pump chamber and the lubricant gallery (130). The controller (117) is configured to cause the lubricant pump (113) to pump a purge volume of lubricant through the lubricant system, cause the lubricant pump to stop pumping for a first time period after the lubricant pump has pumped the purge volume, and cause the lubricant pump to pump the purge volume of lubricant through the lubricant system after the first time period.
