Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformize completely a large quantity of backwash air flow so that it can keep at an appropriate flow rate by arranging a diffuser downstream of a diesel particulate filter, and arranging a backwash air nozzle at an end part positioned downstream of this diffuser. CONSTITUTION:While a diesel engine is operated, and when a filter 13 to filtrate exhaust gas from the engine has reached a regeneration time and its regeneration has to be carried out, a valve 17 is closed when the engine is stopped, on the one hand, and a valve 20 is opened, on the other, and compressive air in an air reservoir 19 is injected into an opening 16b of a diffuser 16 through an air nozzle 8. Though this injection air is flown forcibly into a circular cone part 12b of a housing 12, in this case, since air surrounding the opening 16b of the diffuser 16 is absorbed into the diffuser 16 by means of the injection air from the air nozzle 8, the volume of the injection air becomes large, and a flow speed distribution of backwash air in the radial direction of the circular cone part 12b can be also uniformized. Thereby, particulates scavenged by means of the filter 13 can be blown out uniformly into an upstream space 15.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a reverse-cleaning type filter at which cracks due to heat shock do not occur, by marking the filter of a layer body structure that is formed by conducting the combination of a plurality of unit body filters each of which is provided with a number of holes, and also forming a unit body filter of a heat resistant foam metal body integrally molded. CONSTITUTION:At a diesel engine exhaust purifier 1, a main body portion is on the whole made up of a closed box type casing 2 and a filter 3 housed within the casing 2. In this instance, the filter 3 is formed with a layer body structure which is a combination of plural filter units called unit body filters 31. And a unit body filter 31 is molded as an integer by using a porous foam metal body of a heat resistant metal. By the way, at the time of the reclamation of the filter 3, a butterfly valve 8 is closed, and reverse-cleaning air is blown into the casing 2 from an air feed pipe 9. As a result, particulates caught at the filter 3 are blown down and gathered at an empty place 27, and then, burnt at an electric heater 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a filter from being overheated at the time of regenerating by starting burning of particulate materials in one collecting region between two optional adjacent collecting regions out of plulal collecting regions, thereafter starting burning of particulate materials in the other collecting region with a time delay. CONSTITUTION:When particulates are accumulated in the cells 1a of a filter 1 with the operation of an diesel engine 7, the ventilating areas of porous walls 2 of the filter 1 are reduced to raise exhaust pressure of an exhaust passage 8. When a computer 14 judges that now is the best time for regenerating the filter on the basis of the exhaust pressure, the exhaust passage 8 is closed and a sub-passage 8b bypassing the exhaust passage is opened. Further, only an electric heater 6 in a collecting region A is energized, and external air is introduced, by an air supply device 13, into a main passage 8a of the exhaust passage 8 to burn the particulates accumulated in the cells 1a in the collecting region A. After that, an electric heater 6 in a collecting region B is energized, with a time delay, to burn the particulates accumulated in the cells 1a in the collecting region B.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily remove particulates stuck in particulate collecting pipes apart from an exhaust inflow port by guiding the backwash compressed air from the housing side wall of a filter. CONSTITUTION:A backwash air guide chamber 15 communicated to an exhaust passage 11 on the exhaust outlet side is formed in a particulate collector 13 on the exhaust downstream side of a filter 14. An air nozzle 16 is provided on the backwash air guide chamber 15, and the compressed air is guided via a conduit 17 provided with a valve 18 in the middle. Many particulate collecting pipes 41 communicate an exhaust stream chamber 12 and a particulate combustion chamber 31. The backwash compressed air is guided from the housing side wall, thereby particulates stuck in the particulate collecting pipes 41 apart from the exhaust stream chamber 12 can be easily removed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an emergency operation device which permits the traveling of a vehicle so that an electric control valve arranged in a piping connected with an air tank is opened when a trouble is generated in an electric control circuit of a filter cleaning equipment and blowing air in the reverse direction to the flow of the exhaust gas in a dust collector and cleaning is performed. CONSTITUTION:When the electric control circuit of a filter cleaning equipment 20, e.g., an ordinarily used control unit 24 is broken, the opening/closing operation of a solenoid valve 23 is suspended. Then, an alarm lamp 16 lighted. If the alarm lamp is lighted, a manually operated switch 11 is closed by operating the manually operating switch 11, and then electric current flows in a solenoid coil 34, and the solenoid valve 23 is opened, and a large quantity of the compressed air flows into a cleaning nozzle 21 from an air tank 22 through a piping 33. Therefore, the filter cleaning equipment 20 can be operated by an emergency operating device even in the case when the ordinarily used control unit 24 is broken, and the traveling of a truck is permitted.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a filter resistant to vibration and a high pressure washing air while reducing its size and weight by forming the filter of a ceramic pipe, header blocks, and butt ribs. CONSTITUTION:A filter 10 is made in a pipe structure containing a porous ceramic pipe filter 11 preliminarily formed into a short pipe of a determined length, a pair of ceramic header blocks 12, 13 integrally bonded to the both ends of the outer circumferential surface of the ceramic pipe filter 11, and butt ribs 14, 15 protruded on the outer circumferential surface of the ceramic pipe filter 11 between the header blocks 12, 13. Hence, the filter 10 has an extended filter face, and is made small-sized and light-weighted. The strength resistant to vibration and a high pressure washing air is also secured. Thus, a dust collector is made small-sized and light-weighted and can be easily suited to the exhaust gas treatment capacity. This dust collector can be loaded on an automobile.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption and discharge quantity of NH3 by specifying the equivalent ratio of NH3 to NOx in the case of the reduction and removal of NOx via the addition of NH3 to an exhaust gas from a diesel engine and the contact of the exhaust gas with a catalyst of TiO2 system. CONSTITUTION:NOx is removed by reduction via the addition of NH3 to an exhaust gas from a diesel engine and the contact of a catalyst of TiO2 system therewith. In this case, the equivalent ratio of NH3 to NOx is decided in accordance with the formula: C>=2.967T-403-Co/(2.967T-403)(0.0026T-0.14), where 'T' shows temperature and 'Co' stands for a quantity of NOx discharged to the atmosphere. According to the aforesaid system, the quantity of NH3 added to the exhaust gas is precisely controlled and NOx is efficiently removed via reduction, while the consumption and quantity of NH3 discharged to the atmosphere are thereby being restrained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To automatically control the swirl in a direction injection type Diesel engine by forming a step part by enlarging the cylinder head side of a connecting part between an intake manifold and a passage in the cylinder head and introducing a controlled jet of blast air into said enlarged part. CONSTITUTION:On the connecting part between the intake passage 2a of the intake manifold 2 of a direct injection type Diesel engine and the intake passage 1a in a cylinder head 1, is formed a step part, of which the intake passage 1a side is enlarged. And, a controlled air from a compressed air source 3 and through a pressure reducing valve 4 and a control unit 7, is injected into the stepped part through a hole 9. The control unit 7 determines the ratio of swirl from the inputs of an engine speed signal 5 and a load signal 6, and controls the velocity of blast air in accordance with the ratio. When the velocity is high, the blast air is bent from the broken line 10 which indicates a constant flow, to the solid line 11, as shown in the figure, causing swirl to be stronger. Due to the enlarged step part of the intake passage, a feed air can be easily bent by means of the blast air.
