    Abstract: PURPOSE:To invert the tone of a turn-on pattern instantaneously by composing a two-layer cell of two substrates each having an electrode over the entire surface and by turning on-off a voltage applied to the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The 1st liquid-crystal element 10 having an upper-plate electrode 13 in a prescrived pattern and a lower-plate electrode as an entire-surface electrode, and the 2nd liquid-crystal element 20 having upper-plate and lower-plate electrodes 23 and 24 as entire-surface electrodes are laminated, and to the external surfaces of the upper-plate and lower-plate substrates 11 and 22, polarizing plates 17 and 27, and a reflecting plate 28 are stuck. When the 1st liquid-crystal element 10 is turned on a the 2nd liquid-crystal element is turned off, liquid crystal corresponding to the turn-on pattern of the upper electrode 13 of the 1st liquid-crystal element 10 is disabled to flash, the turn-on pattern is displayed as a dark part and a background part around the turn-on pattern is displayed as a bright part. When both the elements 10 and 20 are both turned on, the turn-on pattern is bright and the background is dark. Thus, the 2nd element is turned on-off corresponding to the daytime and nighttime to obtain easy-to-see display.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To surely prevent the leakage of liquid crystal and achieve the improvement in reliability by forming the sealing part of the liquid crystal sealing port side on the side inner by the specified distance from the cutting position and sealing the liquid crystal sealing port with an organic adhesive agent. CONSTITUTION:The sealing material 3 on the liquid crystal sealing part 4a side of the liquid crystal cell 4 which is cut and parted to individual cells is secured and formed on the side inner by d=0.05-0.5mm apart from the end faces of an upper plate 8 and lower plate 9. This liquid crystal sealing part 4a is bonded and set by an organic adhesive agent 10 such as, e.g. epoxy resin, after liquid crystal 6 has been sealed into the liquid crystal cell 4. With this constitution, the organic adhesive agent 10 readily infiltrates into the spacing of about 10mum between the upper plate 8 and lower plate 9 owing to capillarity and closes the portions of the frit sealing agent 3 as well, thus the leakage of the liquid crystal 6 may be perfectly prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of orientation defect and induced domains despite glass frit sealing by using the specific polymer resin in orientation film. CONSTITUTION:A diamino diamide compound and tetra carboxylic acid dianhyhride are caused to react in an organic solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrolidone. This solution is coated on a glass substrate provided with an inorganic insulation film such as SiO2 on the lower layer or upper layer of transparent electrodes. The formed film is heated to become the polyisoindoloquinazolinedione polymer resin film of the closed ring formula (Ar1 is residual groups of diamino diamide compound; Ar2 is residual groups of tetra carboxylic acid dianhydride). After this hardened film is rubbed with a cloth or the like, it is frit-sealded at 450 deg.C. This orientation film is superior in loss starting temperture and heating loss chracteristics and the liquid crystal display element has superior durability despite long-term current supplying.
