Abstract: An output of a converter unit 3 is applied as an input to an inverter unit 5 through a DC reactor 4, and AC power is supplied to a load from the inverter unit. A ripple component or the like of the DC input of the inverter unit is detected, and the switching elements (51 to 56) of the inverter unit are controlled by PWM control from 10 with the modulation rate determined in accordance with a predetermined instruction, thus providing a sinusoidal output waveform. Since the input to the inverter unit is allowed to contain a ripple, the DC reactor is reduced in size. The output of the inverter unit is a sinusoidal AC power containing no high harmonics and therefore the load is free of effects of high harmonics. The absence of a ripple component in the output of the inverter reduces noise or vibration of the motor 7 and improves the riding quality of an elevator driven by the motor. Abstract: : The present invention relates to a power converter apparatus. The apparatus is comprised of an AC power supply, a DC load and a controllable switching unit connected across the AC power supply and the DC load. The switching unit provides a current switching function for alternately repeating the mode of rectifying the AC power supply and supplying power to the DC load and the mode of making the current flowing to the DC load flow back. The power converter apparatus is further provided with a gate control unit for controlling the switching unit in such a manner that at the time of switching from the power supply to the flow-back mode, the power supply current and the flow-back current flow simultaneously.

Abstract: A levelling apparatus for an AC elevator comprises a vector control unit (VC) for independently controlling a torque current component (It) and an exciting current component (Im) fed to an elevator drive induction motor (2). A difference between a level correction speed instruction, which increases in proportion to a level difference between an elevator car (10) and a target floor, and a rotation angular speed ( omega r) of the motor attributes to a torque current instruction (It). The torque current instruction is used as an instruction for the torque current component and corrected by a load on the elevator car, so that the level difference can be corrected at the level correction speed with high accuracy without being affected by passengers who get on or off the elevator car.

Abstract: A plurality of characteristic modes represent traffic demand states occurring in a building in which the system is installed. When a detected traffic demand state coincides with one of the modes, operation of the system is controlled with the aid of control parameters determined thereby so that the currently detected traffic demand is processed in an optimal manner. The modes are stored and selectively read out in response to traffic demand detection. A mode creating and modifying capability accommodates new traffic demand states through a learning procedure, a mode being established by an automatic learning procedure in dependence on the results of evaluation of the traffic demand characteristic with regard to the significance, the time or period and continuity thereof. To this end, a disconnectable learning microcomputer is provided in addition to the system operation and car controlling microcomputers. Special modes can be manually input at a terminal.

Abstract: A semiconductor device including at least a resistance element formed of polycrystalline silicon having a high resistivity. An electrode is provided on the high resistance polycrystalline silicon region with a silicon dioxide film and a silicon nitride film being interposed therebetween. The electrode is coupled to the ground potential. In this manner, high stability is obtained in the behavior of the resistance element inasmuch as the formation of a parasitic MOS device under said high resistance region is suppressed, and the threshold voltage of any such MOS device is made raised.

Component devices, which are categorized into a group of heat generating devices, are installed in a machine room, and component devices, which are categorized into a group of heat sensitive devices, are installed in another machine room. The two machine rooms are arranged in different locations within an escalator frame, which are remote from each other in the direction of the length of the frame.
