Abstract: A method, system, and program are described in a client computer system for automatically processing information received by the client computer system from a server computer system over a network. A user utilizing a client computer system is permitted to subscribe to a service offered by a server computer system for pushing information to the client computer system. The information is pushed from the server computer to the client computer system at a time specified by the server computer system. The information is stored in the client computer system until a time specified by the client computer system. The information is automatically processed utilizing the client computer system without involvement by the user at the time specified by the client computer system. In various embodiments, the information can be automatically printed, faxed, or emailed utilizing the client computer system without involvement by the user at the time specified by the client computer system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and program for displaying pages in a viewer program on a computer display monitor. The viewer program displays an application window. The viewer program downloads a first and second pages from one of multiple servers over a network and then automatically concurrently displays the first page in a first pane and the second page in a second pane in the application window according to predefined settings specifying how pages are to be displayed in the first and second panes. The viewer program then downloads a third page from one of multiple servers over the network and automatically concurrently displays the third page in one of the first and second panes and one of the first and second pages in the other pane according to the predefined settings. A fourth page is then downloaded from one of multiple servers over the network and the viewer program then automatically concurrently displays the third and fourth pages in the first and second panes according to the predefined settings.

Abstract: A central database on a server 504, accessible to registered users only, contains a full set of personal information on an individual. A smart card 500 stores a unique identifier (avatar) which may be used to gain access to information held on the server 504. Identity information may be retrieved by smart card readers 502 issued to registered users if smart card validity is confirmed by an authentication service. Alternatively, a full set of personal information on an individual is contained within a smart card 502. An access list may be used to ensure that only smart card readers with the highest levels of access can retrieve the most sensitive information. At least two avatars, horizontal and vertical, are used. The former provides a changeable identity and the latter a non-changeable. Very low levels of identification are contained in memory on the smart card 500.

Abstract: A method, computer system and computer program optimizes the efficiency with which a serial electronic publication is distributed to subscribers by determining, for a subscriber, a status for a particular issue of said serial electronic publication and responsive to the step of determining, either transmitting or not transmitting the particular issue. It preferably includes a push engine and a status manager. The push engine transmits a first issue to a subscriber. The status manager determines whether the first issue has been opened and allows the push engine to transmit a second issue only after determining that the first issue has been opened. Alternatively, the status manager associates a vacation setting with at least one subscriber. The push engine identifies one or more non-vacationing subscribers, by reference to the vacation setting, and electronically transmits issues of the publication only to non-vacationing subscribers.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product which allows a user to view and navigate reduced-content web pages on a wireless connection. Upon the user's selection of specific web pages, the pages are then delivered to the user by a less expensive connection, as in a conventional wired internet connection. The delivery is accomplished by several methods, according to different embodiments, including by an electronic mail message, by "push" delivery to an internet- connected data processing system, and by providing a set of hyperlinks to the wired internet connection which reference the selected pages, among other methods. The user is thereby able to view, on a second internet-connected data processing system, the data selected when using the wireless internet- connected data processing system.
