Abstract: Pseudo synchronous transportation mechanism to be used in a communication network comprising a plurality of nodes for exchanging non character coded information NCI and potentially character coded information on internode links in frames comprising circuit slots devoted to the transportation of character coded information, which are assigned to circuit users on the call basis under control of node management means 13. The slots are qualified by at least one qualification bit (Caq) which indicates when set to a first value (0) that the users are momentary active and when set to a second value (1) that the users are momentary inactive. The mechanism comprises in the nodes : - storing means (11, 12) in which queues of storing positions are assigned to the circuit users attached to the node, into which the circuit user information to be sent on the network internode links (l1, L2) and received from the network internode links are stored, - internode adapting means (14,15) which control the generation and the reception of the frames to and from each internode link operating under control of the node management means, which assign on the call basis , a set of at least one slot in the frames transported on the network link to a plurality of circuit users, and which comprise transmit and receive control means (24-T, 26-T, 20-R, 22-R, 28). The transmit control means causes the queues assigned to the plurality of local users to be sequentially scanned and read and the read information corresponding to momentary active users to be sent on the link during the assigned slot(s) of successive frames together with a qualification bit set to a first value. The receive control means causes the information received in the slot(s) assigned to the said plurality of users in successive frames to be written into the queues assigned to the users which are sequentially scanned, when the qualification bits are found equal to the first value.

Abstract: System to be used for dynamically allocating circuit slots in the frames which are used for exchanging bits between users connected to nodes of a communication network linked by means of medium links having transmit and receive interfaces, said frames being delimited by flags and divided into bit slots which may be devoted to synchronous circuit flow and to asynchronous packet flow. It comprises in each node means for changing the flags preceding at least one frame in which at least one slot is to be added or deleted to a value including a first number of delimiting bits and a second number of bits which are coded to indicate that slot(s) is (are) to be added or deleted and the corresponding slot number(s); means for sending call control packets which are propagated through the network nodes, comprising call control information , routing information and indicating the circuit user slot number(s) to be added or deleted on specified link interfaces, and means receiving the call control packets and the changed flags for adding or deleting circuit user slot(s) in the subsequent frames depending upon the flag value.

Abstract: A surveyor's mark and a method of forming the mark. A tag is embedded in a head. The head is removably assembled to a stick. The head is configured to be above a ground when the stick is planted in the ground. The head includes a tag. The tag in the head includes an identification number whose value identifies the tag and indicates if the head is disassembled from the stick. If the stick is planted in the ground and the head is above the ground, then pulling the head in an attempt to pull up the mark from the ground results in changing the value of the identification number in the tag from a first code value to a second code value that differs from the first code value.

Abstract: A computing system and computer readable medium storing computer instructions are disclosed, which when the computer instructions are executed, enables a computer system to manage data using a file name on a computer system having a graphical user interface and a file system storing files with a file hierarchy. The computer instructions comprise, in part, entering a command from an application to create a file; displaying the file hierarchy; allowing a user to select at least one folder; saving data in a first file having a file name in one selected folder; in each of the other selected folders, creating a shortcut file having the same file name and containing a pointer to the first file; and creating a hidden file in the folder containing the first file, the hidden file containing a list of pointers to the shortcut files.

Abstract: A method and computing systems for refreshing, from a server, objects locally stored by a client device remotely connected through a communicating means to said server. The client device send a request for refresh message and a list of object identifiers and the digest of the object itself stored in its local storage. The server, after checking the deals the client device has subscribed to, sends back a refresh answer message with the objects stored locally in the client device and which needs to be refreshed. According to the deals to which the client device has subscribed, the server will also send new objects and will send a special code to specify to the client device to delete objects which are no more part of the deals.

Abstract: The transport mechanism has a storage device (11,12) in which queues of storing positions are assinged to the circuit uses attached to a node, into which the circuit user information to be sent on the network intermode lnks (L1,L2) and received from the network inter-node links are stored. A intermode adapting circuit controls the generation and the reception of the frames to and from each intermode link operating under control fo the node management circuit. The management circuit assigns on the call basis, a set of at least one slot in the frames transported on the network line to several circuit users, and which comprise transmit and receive controllers (24-T, 26-T, 20-R, 22-R, 28). The transmit controller cause the queues assigned, to be sequenitally scanned and read. The receive controller causes the information received to be written into the queues assigned tothe users which are sequentially scanned, when the qualification bis are found equal to the first value.

Abstract: A method and system for identifying an authentication status of a first item. An RFID reader transmits zero and a random number to a first RFID tag associated with the first item. The first RFID tag uses a hashing function to compute a hash (H1) of a concatenation of an identifier (Id1) of the first RFID tag, the random number, and a first secret key and sends the hash H1 to the RFID reader which then transmits the identifier Id1 and the random number to a second RFID tag. The second RFID tag uses the hashing function to compute a hash (H2) of a concatenation of the identifier Id1, the random number, and a second secret key and sends the hash H2 to the RFID reader. The authentication status of authentic or counterfeit is determined for the first item based on whether or not H1 is equal to H2.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for tamper detection. A tamper detection system in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes: a passive electronic sensor including a circuit having first, second, and third nodes; a load connected between the first and second nodes of the circuit; a friable electrical connection element connected between the second and third nodes of the circuit; and a storage unit, connected to the second node of the circuit, for storing an identification code of the sensor; wherein in use a voltage is applied across the first and third nodes of the circuit, and when the friable electrical connection element is intact, the second node of the circuit is at a first voltage, and when the friable electrical connection element is broken, the second node of the circuit is at a second voltage.
