Abstract: An integrated manual control input device is provided for use in a computer system having a graphical user interface. The device comprises a keyboard unit having a plurality of keys, a pointing actuator mounted to the keyboard between preselected ones of the keys for engagement by a user's index finger, at least one click button assembly pivotably mounted to the keyboard unit adjacent the keys and a normally open momentary switch beneath the click button assembly. The click button assembly has a button moveable downwardly by a user's thumb to select an ON state and subsequently releasable to select an OFF state. The button is also moveable downwardly and slidable laterally in a rearward direction to select a locked ON state to facilitate a drag operation.

Abstract: Disclosed is a battery pack and a mechanism for connecting the battery pack (40) that provide increased freedom for detachment and removal from an electric/electronic device (10). Since a head (46), wherein a plurality of terminals are so provided inside individual slits as not to be exposed externally, is connected to a battery interface (76) that is a part of a personal computer and that has a plurality of plugs, the terminals of the battery pack are electrically connected to the corresponding plugs. Since all the slits of the head (46) are so formed that each extends fully through the head (46) in the direction of the thickness of the battery pack (40), and so that each is open at the top, at the bottom, and at one side, the head (46) can be connected to the battery interface (76) from the top, from the bottom, or from the side of the battery interface (76).

Abstract: To intend to inhibit an instrument such as a HDD or the like from being detached from an information processing apparatus when the information processing apparatus itself is engaged with an external fixed location and to allow an instrument such as a HDD or the like to be easily detached from the information processing apparatus when it is not so engaged. A body capable of receiving a detachable instrument used for information processing (for example, a storage unit such as a cartridge HDD or FDD, a cartridge IC memory, a card memory, or the like, a battery pack, a communication instrument, etc.), a movable member for allowing the instrument to be detached from the body when the movable member is at a first position and for inhibiting the instrument from being detached from the body when the movable member is at a second position, the member being capable of moving between the first position and the second position and being operated from the outside of the body, and an engaging member operable to inhibit the movable member from moving from the second position to the first position when the body is engaged with an external place and operable to allow the movable member to move from the second position to the first position when the body is not engaged with the external location are provided.

Abstract: To provide an enclosure having a body and a cover, in which the cover can be opened even if an operation for releasing the state where the cover is latched with the body and an operation for lifting the cover itself are not practiced simultaneously, the present invention provides an engaging member being movable or transformable, in the state where a cover is closed, between an engaging position where the cover is engaged with said body and a releasing position where the cover is not engaged with the body, being forced to move or transform from said releasing position to said engaging position, and being provided to one of the cover and the body, and lock means for preventing said engaging member from moving from said releasing position to said engaging position in spite of said force when said engaging member is moved from said engaging position to said releasing position in the state where the cover is closed, and for allowing said engaging member to move from said releasing position to said engaging position when the cover is opened so that it becomes unnecessary to practice an operation for releasing a latch and an operation for lifting the cover simultaneously when the cover is opened by keeping the engaging member in the releasing position by means of said lock means and thus keeping the state where the latch is released when the engaging member is moved from the engaging position to the releasing position.
