PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a polymer builder which can be stably mixed to a liquid detergent containing a surfactant in high concentration and having excellent color and perfume of a solution. SOLUTION: When the polymer builder for a detergent is produced by polymerizing a specified unsaturated carboxylic acid-based monomer (I) represented by general formula (I) and a specified allyl ether-based monomer (II) represented by general formula (II) in a liquid reaction medium in the presence of a polymerization initiator, 1 to 10 mol% persulfate to total number of moles of the monomer (I) and the monomer (II) is used as the polymerization initiator and a liquid reaction medium containing ≥15 wt.% lower alcohol in a total liquid reaction medium is used as the liquid reaction medium. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer builder for clothing detergent which can be stably blended into a liquid clothing detergent, exhibits excellent sludge dispersibility even in high hardness, and also has excellent hydrolysis resistance. SOLUTION: The polymer builder for a clothing detergent is composed of a polymer compound which has a structural unit (A) derived from a specified unsaturated carboxylic acid base monomer and a structural unit (B) originated from a specified unsaturated polyalkylene oxide base monomer, and in which the mass ratio of the structural unit (A) to the structure unit (B) is 1:99 to 29:71, and the proportion of the structural unit (A) and the structural unit (B) in the whole structural unit is ≥85 mass%, or is composed of a salt of the polymer compound. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new diallylamine-based copolymer useful as a component of a treating agent for a rigid surface; to provide a method for producing the copolymer; and to provide the treating agent for the rigid surface containing the copolymer. SOLUTION: The diallylamine-based copolymer has a constituent unit derived from diallylamines, a constituent unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated sulfonic acid compound and/or an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid compound, and a constituent unit derived from sulfur dioxide. The method for producing the diallylamine-based copolymer involves copolymerizing monomers constituting each of the above constituent units in a polar solvent in the presence of a radical initiator.
