    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface modifier for an inorganic solid, which can markedly improve the affinity of an inorganic solid for a medium at good efficiency even when used in a small amount and can therefore give a composition less prone to being adversely affected even when it contains a large amount of an inorganic solid. SOLUTION: Provided are a surface modifier for an inorganic solid, comprising a poly(N-acylalkyleneimine) having polymer units represented by the formula, wherein R1 is H, a 1-50C hydrocarbon group, a group derived by replacing part or all of the hydrogen atoms of the hydrocarbon group by fluorine atoms, or a silicon-containing group; and a is 2 or 3, an organic solid at least part of whose surface is coated with the modifier, and a composition containing the modifier and an inorganic solid.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic excellent in water oil and abrasion resistances and flexibility of a coating film, capable of preventing wetting, uneven spread and vanishing of cosmetic ingredients, good in makeup lasting quality, excellent in stability and useful for a foundation, etc., by including a specific polyether. SOLUTION: This cosmetic is obtained by including a polyether represented by the formula [X]m-[Y]n [X is represented by formula I; R1 to R3 are each H, methyl or ethyl; (a) is 1 or 2; Rf is a group in which a part or all of Hs in a 1-32C hydrocarbon are substituted by fluorines; Y is formula II or the like; R4 is H or a 1-32C hydrocarbon; R5 to R7 are each H, methyl or ethyl; b is 1 or 2; m/(m+n) is 0.2-1, with the proviso that (m+n) is >=10] in an amount of preferably 0.5-30 wt.%. The above polyether is obtained by polymerizing, e.g. 3-(1H,1H,5H-octafluoropentyloxy)-1,2-epoxypropane in the presence of a catalyst.

SOLUTION: The objective polycarbonate (e.g. a compound of formula II, and the like.) is obtained by reacting (C) a substituted epoxide such as stearyl glycidyl ether with (D) carbon dioxide in the presence of (A) a rare earth metal compound [e.g. samarium tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate), or the like] of formula I (wherein M is a rare earth element selected from Sc, Y and lanthanides; and L1 to L3 are each an oxygen-binding ligand) and (B) a reducing compound such as methylaluminoxane usually in an inactive solvent such as toluene preferably at -30 deg.C to 160 deg.C.

SOLUTION: This liquid detergent composition for a hard surface contains (A) 1-70wt.% anionic surfactant, (B) 0.5-20wt.% nonionic surfactant and (C) 0.001-10wt.% hydrophilic polyether-based copolymer having a structural unit of the formula (R , R are each a 1-20C alkyl which may have hydroxyl; Y is a 1-10C alkylene which may have hydroxyl). Thus, a detergent composition of a practical value having an extremely mild effect to a skin and an excellent rinsing property, and not causing a roughness in the skin, can be expected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new fluoroorganopolysiloxane useful as a skin-protecting agent having durability because of excellent water repellency and oil repellency. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer containing a substituent group shown by formula I P is 1-12C perfluoroalkyl; Y is spacer group comprising main chain contain hetero atom; R is H or methyl) at the end and/or side chain of organopolysiloxane chain. The polymer is obtained by reacting a hydrosilyl- containing organopolysiloxane with a fluorine-containing unsaturated compound shown by formula II in the presence of a metal of the group VH of the periodic table or its metal compound (preferably chloroplatinic acid) preferably at 20-100 deg.C for 1-24 hours. A compound shown by formula III is preferable as the raw material organopolysiloxane. The raw material organopolysiloxane, for example, is obtained by subjecting octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane and tetramethylhydrogen tetrasiloxane to ring-opening equilibration polymerization.
