Abstract:
Disclosed is a system for providing an electronic program guide and a method of providing the same, the electronic program guide (EPG) being about a plurality of programs supplied through a digital broadcasting system, including the steps of receiving service information transmitted from the digital broadcasting system, and extracting the EPG information from the service information to store the EPG information; analyzing a user's request and extracting EPG information that meets the user's request from the stored EPG information to produce tailored EPG information; converting the tailored EPG information into speech EPG information; and reproducing the speech EPG information as speech to provide users with the EPG information.
Abstract:
Provided is a digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) system that can provide a multimedia data broadcasting service having an excellent reception quality, a method thereof, and a computer-readable recording medium for recording a program that implements the method. The DMB system includes an encoding unit for encoding an inputted audio/video signal; a synchronizing unit for synchronizing media stream, additional data, interactive service objectifyin g data that are outputted from the encoding unit; a multiplexing unit for multiplexing the media stream outputted from the synchronizing unit; an erro r correction encoding unit for performing additional error correction encoding on the media stream outputted from the multiplexing unit; an interleaving un it for removing temporal correlation between adjacent byte units within a data stream outputted from the error correction encoding unit; and a transmitting unit for transmitting a DMB media stream outputted from the interleaving uni t to the conventional DAB system and other digital broadcasting systems.

Abstract:
Provided is a protocol structure for a mobile station, base station, or relay station. The protocol structure comprises: a first function unit which, as a part of a media access control layer, controls and manages radio resources, and which is positioned on a control plane; and a second function unit which, as a part of the media access control layer, controls media access, and which is positioned on the control plane and data plane. The first function unit includes a variety of function blocks for supporting high reliability.
Abstract:
Provided is a group communication method for a terminal. A terminal establishes a group call connection with a first base station which belongs to a group call area, and receives group call data from the first base station. When the terminal moves into the coverage of a second base station which belongs to the group call area, the terminal receives group call data from the second base station, without re-registration in the second base station.
Abstract:
A base station transmits, to a mobile station, a first message comprising an index for a plurality of carriers and data for a plurality of carriers. The base station transmits, to the mobile station, a second message comprising a bitmap showing whether each of the plurality of carriers corresponds to a paging carrier used in the transmission of a paging message. The base station selects a paging transmission carrier for the mobile station from a plurality of carriers corresponding to paging carriers, and transmits a paging message via the selected paging transmission carrier.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a data-transmitting apparatus, which transmits a first control message to a data-receiving apparatus so as to allocate a first carrier serving as a subcarrier to the data-receiving apparatus, wherein said first control message contains information that the data-receiving apparatus requires for receiving multicast broadcast service (MBS) data. After the successful transmission of the first control message, the data-transmitting apparatus activates the first carrier to transmit MBS data to the data-receiving apparatus without the process of exchanging a second control message for activating a carrier. The data-transmitting apparatus transmits MBS data to the data-receiving apparatus via the first carrier.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a broadcast data transmission system. Said broadcast data transmission system transmits broadcast data by using a plurality of transmission antennas and a plurality of receiving antennas. A broadcast data transmission device comprised in the broadcast data transmission system determines different modulation techniques for each transmission antenna, determines different kinds of transmission power for each data stream according to the determined modulation techniques, and determines different precoding vectors.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a femtocell search method for a handover from a macrocell to a femtocell. The present invention relates to a method for a terminal that accesses a macrocell to search a femtocell in an environment where a plurality of femtocells are overlapped in one macrocell. The terminal searches a femtocell by using a dummy preamble in order to minimize the size of neighbor cell lists broadcasted from the macrocell to the terminal. Therefore, according to the present invention, an MAC overhead can be minimized by eliminating neighbor femtocell lists in a mobile neighbor advertisement (MOB_NBR_ADV) message broadcasted from the macrocell, and the terminal can search a femtocell with a minimum scanning load by checking only a femtocell dummy preamble in a dedicated symbol of the macrocell.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of changing a frequency assignment (FA) status in an improved broadband wireless access system where terminals and base stations can communicate with each other by using a plurality of FAs. In the present invention, the base station changes the status of one of secondary FA into the status of the pFA in order to adjust a load of the primary FA, and communicates with the terminal through the pFA of which status is changed. For this purpose, the base station transmits a MAP information element (IE), which requests the change of the status of the pFA, to the terminal. The MAP IE includes an action code that requests the change of the status of the pFA, and a bit map representing an FA of which status is to be changed. When a response, which represents the completion of the change of the status of the pFA of the base station, is received from the terminal, the base station changes the status of the pFA and communicates with the pFA of the terminal through a new pFA. The status of a previous pFA between the base station and the terminal is changed into the status of the sFA, and the status of one previous sFA between the base station and the terminal is changed into the status of the pFA, so that communication is performed through new FAs. According to the present invention, since the base station can change the status of a specific terminal and FAs in use according to need, it is possible to adjust loads between the FAs. Further, the base station can change the statuses of the FAs in use while continuously maintaining the access of a specific terminal.
