A method of processing an interactive service and an apparatus thereof are disclosed. The present invention includes generating a trigger, wherein the trigger contains a first identifier and a parameter, wherein the first identifier identifies an application to be launched, wherein the parameter contains a media time stamp and a content identifier, wherein the media time stamp indicates a current point in the playout of a content, wherein the content identifier identifies the content currently being viewed, wherein the trigger is passed into the application after the application is launched, and wherein the application delivers the content identifier to a server in order to identify the content currently being viewed; generating a broadcast signal including the trigger; and transmitting the broadcast signal.

The present invention relates to a method, apparatus, and system for performing an unsolicited location-based download. The method for performing an unsolicited location-based download can set a location report interval for updating location information on a CD, updates location information on the CD on the basis of the location report interval, reports the updated location information to a server, receives a source URI for downloading a predicted location, a predicted period, and content on the CD from a server, and downloads content from the server on the basis of the predicted location, the predicted period, and the source URI. Accordingly, an unsolicited download is enabled through simple settings.

A method of processing a broadcast signal including an interactive broadcast service at a transmitter is disclosed. The method comprises generating an parameter table containing metadata about applications and interactive broadcast events targeted to the applications, dividing the parameter table into a plurality of parameter blocks, inserting each of the parameter blocks into each of a plurality of parameter table sections, generating a trigger which is a signaling element to identify signaling and establish timing of playout of the interactive broadcast events, inserting the trigger into a closed caption channel of the broadcast signal, transmitting the broadcast signal including the closed caption channel and a specific channel carrying the plurality of parameter table sections, wherein the trigger includes location information specifying a location of the parameter table in the broadcast signal.

The present invention includes receiving uncompressed audio contents or uncompressed video contents from an external decoding unit, extracting an identifier of a frame from the received content, sending a request containing the identifier to a server and receiving a trigger for the content from the server based on the request, wherein the trigger indicates the current time of the contents and references a particular interactive event in an application parameter table or signals that the event is to be executed now or at a specified future time and the application parameter table includes information about at least one of applications.
