Abstract: The present invention relates to a laundry handling apparatus and a control method therefor. The laundry handling apparatus of the present invention comprises: a cabinet; a tub in which washing water is accommodated; an electric heater for raising the temperature of the washing water of the tub; and an air pump for supplying air under the water surface of the electric heater so as to raise the level of the washing water with which the electric heater comes into contact. Therefore, when the heated washing water is supplied into the tub, the level of the washing water rises so as to prevent the electric heater from being exposed to the water surface, thereby preventing the damage of the electric heater. In addition, since the water level rises by the air, the amount of the washing water used can be reduced.

Abstract: A method of controlling a washing machine includes: sensing a laundry amount accommodated in a drum; performing water supply into the drum according to the sensed laundry amount; rotating a pump motor at a certain initial rotation speed and transferring washing water discharged from the drum to at least one nozzle for spraying water into the drum; sensing a water level in the drum; performing a re-supply of water at least once until the sensed water level reaches a set water level; and increasing the rotation speed of the pump motor whenever the re-supply of water is performed, so that as the rotation speed of the pump motor is increased, the reaching range of the water stream sprayed through the nozzle gradually expands from the lower side of the circumferential surface of the drum to the rear surface of the drum.
