    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feed forward control system for especially reducing the distortion of a high power linear amplifier. SOLUTION: A splitter 201 separates a signal S(122) containing a distortion signal D into a signal S(201a) and a signal (201b). A first preceding distortion circuit route has and phase controller 202, detector 206, splitter 208 and canceler circuit 218 for generating an output signal S(218) by coupling the signal S(212) and a signal S(216) from a second preceding distortion circuit route. The second preceding distortion circuit route has a delay circuit 204 for delaying the signal S(201b), canceler circuit 210 for generating an output signal S(210) by coupling a signal S(208b) and a signal S(204), gain and phase controller 214 and amplifier 216 for generating a distortion output signal S(216). These operations are totally controlled.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the interference due to the leak by outputting a pilot signal under a prescribed condition and controlling the amplitude and phase of a feedback signal based on the signal inputted then in regard to a means which feeds an output signal back to the input side and eliminates the leak signal component. SOLUTION: The signals inputted to a directional saucer-shaped antenna 13 from a base station are amplified and sent to a wireless terminal via an omnidirectional antenna 14. However, some of these amplified signals are inputted to the antenna 13 via a leak path 28 and causes the interference. A phase amplitude control circuit 31 shifts the phase of the sampling output signal sent from a directional coupler 30 by 180 degrees and feeds back the output signal via a directional coupler 33 to eliminate the leak signal component. A voltage control oscillator 40 transmits a burst-shaped pilot signal of 100n seconds via the antenna 14 when a normal signal is kept at a low level. A null circuit 39 analyzes the signals inputted via the antenna 13 and sets the circuit 31.

A pilot modulated carrier signal (produced by 182, 184) is frequency hopped about the frequency band of operation. The hopping pilot modulated carrier signal does not interfere with any signal applied to or generated by the electrical circuit as it is not at any time located within the frequency band of operation. Information obtained from the hopping pilot modulated carrier is provided to the control system which uses such information to cancel the distortion produced by the electrical circuit.

    Abstract: A pilot signal detection system uses a band reject filter to reject the frequency band of at least one carrier signal to improve pilot signal detection. For example, in a feed forward distortion reduction system, the carrier signal(s) is on a main signal path along with a pilot signal which is injected into the main signal path at a frequency adjacent to the frequency band of the carrier signal(s). The carrier signal(s) and the pilot signal are amplified on the main signal path, resulting in distortion on the main signal path. To reduce the distortion from the main signal path, the feed forward distortion reduction system detects and reduces the pilot signal. To improve detection of the pilot signal, the pilot signal detection system provides a signal representative of the carrier signal(s) and the pilot signal with distortion from the main signal path onto a pilot detection path. A band reject filter on the pilot detection path rejects the frequency band of the carrier signal(s) while allowing the frequency of the pilot signal to pass through to pilot detect circuitry. Without the presence of the carrier signal(s), the pilot detect circuitry can more accurately detect the pilot signal on the pilot detection path. In response to the detected pilot signal, the pilot detect circuitry can provide control signal(s) to improve the reduction of the pilot signal by changing the relative phase and/or gain between the signals on the main signal path and the feed forward path. Thus, by improving the detection of the pilot signal, the pilot detection system improves the reduction of the pilot signal and thereby of the distortion.
