    Abstract: A mobile-station with an integrated user identity module (I-UIM) and a removable user identity module (R-UIM) that adheres to the second generation standard intersystem protocol for validation and authentication is disclosed herein. The I-UIM includes an integrated electronic serial number (I-ESN) and integrate-subscriber/subscription information, whereas the R-UIM includes a removable electronic serial number (R-ESN) and remote-subscriber/subscription information. The mobile-station will transmit either the I-UIM and integrated subscriber/subscription information pair or the R-UIM and remote subscriber/subscription information pair depending on the user of the mobile-station. A registry of I-ESNs paired with integrated-subscriber/subscription information and R-ESNs paired with remote-subscriber/subscription information will be maintained by wireless communications systems and/or authentication centers. Such registry is used to validate and authenticate I-ESN and integrated-subscriber/subscription information pairs, and R-ESN and remote-subscriber/subscription information pairs.

    Abstract: The present invention is a method for porting a mobile directory number of a subscriber from a donor wireless service provider to a recipient wireless service provider with minimum interruption to the subscriber's wireless communication service. In one embodiment, the present invention is accomplished by creating an entry for the wireless terminal in the recipient wireless service provider's home location register and a temporary pointer in the donor wireless service provider's home location register, wherein such temporary pointer will cause the donor wireless communication system to route or forward any call intended fo r the wireless terminal being ported to the recipient wireless communications system for completion in well-known fashion. When the porting process is complete, the temporary pointer is removed or deactivated in the donor wireless service provider's home location register. Advantageously, coordination of the porting process is controlled by the recipient wireless service provider resulting in minimum interruption to the subscriber's wireless communication s service.

    Abstract: The method for transferring data sends the data as part of first and second permanent identifiers during a communication procedure prior to establishing a traffic channel in the communication system. Besides the data, the first permanent identifier includes routing information to a home system forming part of the communication system. The second permanent identifier is an expanded permanent identifier with the data forming at least part of the expanded portion thereof. Based at least on recognizing a portion of the second permanent identifier, a home system sends the first and second permanent identifiers to a destination entity. The destination entity extracts the data from the first and second permanent identifiers. In this manner, a traffic channel does not need to be established to transmit the data.

    Abstract: The method for transferring data according to the present invention sends data as part of a first type of permanent identifier associated with an end user in a communication system. The first type of permanent identifier is sent along with a second type of permanent identifier, also associated with the end user, during a communication procedure prior to establishing a traffic channel in the communication system. Besides the data, the permanent identifier of the first type includes routing information to a home system forming part of the communication system. The end user also stores the sent permanent identifier of the first type, and in response to receiving the stored permanent identifier of the first type in a communication, will generate a new permanent identifier of the first type. In this manner, a destination entity receiving the permanent identifiers of the first type from the home system, can request more data from the end user by having a received permanent identifier of the first type re-sent to the end user.
