Abstract: A method involves selecting a type of cell for implantation into a mammal and identifying the specific gravity or density of the cell type. Then, a carrier liquid is selected which has a specific gravity or density within a range of specific gravities or densities which approximately matches the specific gravity or density of the selected cell type. A liquid for delivery of growth cells into tissue of a mammal is also provided in which the density of a carrier fluid component is matched to the density of the cells being consistently delivered by the carrier fluid.

Abstract: Methods and systems for transvenously accessing the pericardial space via the vascular system and atrial wall, particularly through the superior vena cava and right atrial wall, to deliver treatment in the pericardial space are disclosed. A steerable instrument is advanced transvenously into the right atrium of the heart, and a distal segment is deflected into the right atrial appendage. A fixation catheter is advanced employing the steerable instrument to affix a distal fixation mechanism to the atrial wall. A distal segment of an elongated medical device, e.g., a therapeutic catheter or an electrical medical lead, is advanced through the fixation catheter lumen, through the atrial wall, and into the pericardial space. The steerable guide catheter is removed, and the elongated medical device is coupled to an implantable medical device subcutaneously implanted in the thoracic region. The fixation catheter may be left in place.

Abstract: A medical catheter comprising a proximal end having an opening for fluid containing a therapeutic drug, a distal end, the distal end defining at least one opening, and a porous portion covering the opening defined by the distal end. In one embodiment, the medical catheter comprises a proximal end having an opening for fluid containing a therapeutic drug, at least two distal ends. the proximal end connected to the two distal ends with a connector, the distal ends each defining at least, one opening, a diffuser covering the opening of each distal end, and a separate restrictor downstream of the connector and upstream of each distal end to provide substantially equal flow through each distal end. An additional restrictor can also be placed upstream of the connector. In another embodiment, a combination diffuser and restrictor covers the opening of each distal end.

Abstract: A medical catheter has a flexible tube containing a flexible core extending along it. At any point the core is of much smaller cross section than the lumen defined by the tube interior wall. Together the tube and the core define a passage and a structure that resists obstruction of the passage. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) preventing occlusion of a flexible tube by placing a flexible core within it as above; (b) manufacturing a medical catheter by co-extruding a flexible core from polyurethane onto polyurethane containing a heavy metal and placing the core within a flexible tube or relatively larger cross section. Preferred Features: The proximal end of the tube is 10 - 40 times more rigid than its distal end. The core may be fixed to the wall of the tube or moves freely within it. Abstract: A lead and a lead system for dispersion of a cardioversion/defibrillation electrode formed of one or more small diameter defibrillation electrodes in a heart chamber and for attaching a pace/sense electrode in contact with the heart. The small diameter defibrillation electrode or electrodes extend distally from the distal end of the lead body. If multiple electrodes are employed, they are preferably biased to spread apart when unrestrained and have a cross-section size small enough to be inserted into interstices of trabeculae in the ventricular chamber. The distal ends of the defibrillation electrodes may be free of attachment to the lead body or may be attached by a weak bond to the distal portion of the lead.
