SOLUTION: The copolymerized polyhydroxycarboxylic acid is derived from (A) an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid or its derivative, especially preferably a lactide, (B) a cyclic compound especially preferably phenylenediamine and (C) a cyclic compound especially preferably tolylene diisocyanate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially and advantageously produce the subject compound in high yield for a short time by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with an aldehyde compound and hydrogen in the presence of a noble metal catalyst in a solvent under specific conditions. SOLUTION: An aromatic nitro compound (e.g. 3-nitrobenzoic acid) is reacted with (B) an aldehyde compound [e.g. a 37% aqueous solution of formaldehyde (formalin)] in a molar amount of >=2 times, preferably 2-2.2 times based on the component A and (C) hydrogen in the presence of (D) a noble metal catalyst (e.g. a palladium/carbon supported catalyst) in an amount of 0.005-0.5 wt.%, preferably 0.025-0.1 wt.% expressed in terms of a metal atom and based on the raw material used in (E) a solvent (e.g. methanol) at 20-70 deg.C, preferably 40-60 deg.C preferably under an applied hydrogen pressure, e.g. atmospheric pressure to 10 kg/cm2 while successively feeding the components A and B to produce the objective compound (e.g. 3-dimethylaminobenzoic acid).

The amino acid derivative of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction of a fatty acid halide with an aminopolycarboxylic acid of formula III (M3 and M4 are each H, an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal). For example, the above-illustrated amino acid derivative of formula II is obtained by reaction of lauryl chloride with aminopolycarboxylic acid of formula IV. The other objective detergent composition contains pref. 0.1-99 wt.% of the amino acid derivative of formula I.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinked polysuccinimide as a precursor for a crosslinked polyaspartic acid resin having both high water absorptivity and (bio)degradability in excellent productivity and operability by dissolving a polysuccinimide in a good solvent, adding a crosslinking agent to the solution to introduce pendant groups into the polymer, adding a dispersant to the solution to form a mixture in the state of a dispersion, and subjecting the suspension to a crosslinking reaction in the presence of a base. SOLUTION: The polysuccinimide used is the one having a weight-average molecular weight of 10,000 or above. The good solvent used is, for example, N,N-dimethylformamide. The crosslinking agent used is, for example a polyamine having at least one carboxyl group in the molecule (e.g. lysine or ornithine). Its amount of use is desirably 0.1-30 mol.% based on the monomer units of the main chain of the polysuccinimide. The dispersant used is exemplified by a poor solvent, for example, water or methanol. Its amount of use is 0.5-10 times as large as the weight of the good solvent used. The base used is NaOH or the like. The crosslinking temperature is -10 to 200 deg.C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinked polysuccinimide as a precursor for a crosslinked polyaspartic acid resin having both high water absorptivity and (bio)degradability in excellent productivity and good operability by simultaneously adding a dispersant and a crosslinking agent to a solution prepared by dissolving a polysuccinimide in a good solvent and subjecting the resultant mixture in the state of a dispersion to a crosslinking reaction. SOLUTION: The polysuccinimide used is the one having a weight-average molecular weight of 10,000 or above. The good solvent used is, for example, N,N-dimethylformamide. The dispersant used is a poor solvent, for example, water or methanol. Its amount of use is 0.5-10 times the weight of the good solvent used. The crosslinking agent is not particularly limited so far as it is a polyfunctional compound reactive with an imide ring. It is exemplified by a polyamine (e.g. hydrazine) or a protein-constituting amino acid (e.g. lysine). Its amount of use is desirably 0.1-30 mol.% based on the monomer units of the main chain of the polysuccinimide. The crosslinking temperature is -10 to 200 deg.C.

The compound represented by the formula is obtained by adding acrylonitrile to, e.g. monoethanolamine, hydrolyzing the cyano group, thereby providing N-hydroxyethyl-β-alanine and then reacting the resultant compound with a fatty acid chloride.
