    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some cases, devices such as band limited (BL) or coverage enhancement (CE) user equipment (UE) having limited transmitting and receiving capability may operate using a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier (e.g., narrowbands). To support frequency hopping or frequency diversity in transmissions, for example, such devices may utilize retuning when a resource allocation moves from a first narrowband to a second narrowband. Retuning, however, may create challenges when transmitting and receiving capability is limited. Aspects of this disclosure may support a flexible starting physical resource block (PRB) for indicating new resource allocations for BL or CE UEs. In some aspects, a UE is disclosed which may retune between consecutive transmission time intervals (TTIs) or subframes, for example, from a first tuning band to a second tuning band (e.g., a newly defined retuning narrowband).

    Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap for a scheduled communication involving multiple, different TBs. For example, some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between two or more PDSCHs that are scheduled by a same DCI based at least in part on a UE capability, such as a processing time or a processing mode. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide for the determination of a gap between a last PDSCH and a next PDCCH based at least in part on the UE capability. The gap(s) may permit the UE to successfully receive and/or decode multiple PDSCHs and/or PDCCHs in view of the limitations imposed by the UEs processing time or processing mode. In this way, efficiency of PDSCH/PDCCH resource utilization may be improved, the likelihood of a failed PDCCH transmission is reduced, and network efficiency is improved.

A wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), may receive a wakeup signal (WUS) from a network node, such as a base station, before listening for a paging message. The UE may assume a maximum duration (Wmax) for the WUS based on a dependency on variables associated with the base station and WUS. In some cases, the UE may determine not to monitor a WUS for the Wmax and may engage in an early termination based on the determination. That is, the UE may monitor the WUS for a time shorter than Wmax. The UE may assume the shorter time has a dependency on variables associated with the base station and WUS. The base station may indicate this dependency to the UE either implicitly or explicitly.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for flexible resource allocation. In one aspect, a base station can generate a narrowband data channel including a plurality of resource blocks (RBs). The base station may shift a position of the RBs of the narrowband data channel to align with a wideband resource block group (RBG) boundary. The base station can also adjust a precoding resource block group (PRG) for the narrowband data channel. Also, the base station can transmit the narrowband data channel to a User Equipment (UE) based on adjusting the PRG. In another aspect, the base station may align a beginning or last RB of the plurality of RBs with the wideband RBG boundary and/or align a beginning or last RB of the PRG with the wideband RBG boundary. In another aspect, the base station may transmit an indication to the UE indicating a flexible resource allocation.

A user equipment (UE) may transmit an autonomous uplink (AUL) transmission to a base station using a configured resource set, the AUL transmission comprising reference signals and data signals. The UE may determine whether a response signal was received from the base station in response to the AUL transmission. The UE may determine whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals, or the reference signals and the data signals. The UE may select an uplink transmission scheme to use for subsequent transmissions to the base station, the selected uplink transmission scheme based at least in part on the determination of whether the response signal was received from the base station and whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals or the reference signals and the data signals.
