Abstract: An air conditioning system for a vehicle including a vapor compression-type refrigerating cycle and using combustible refrigerant includes a refrigerant recovery vessel (8) in communication with a gas-liquid separator (7) and which of recovers the combustible refrigerant by the communication with the gas-liquid separator, and a valve (45) which controls the communication between the refrigerant recovery vessel (8) and the gas-liquid separator (7) in response to an external signal, thus leakage of the refrigerant may be reduced, minimized, or eliminated in case of an accident or a defect.

Abstract: An air conditioner for a vehicle uses a hybrid compressor (4) including a first compression mechanism driven by a first drive source (2) and a second compression mechanism driven by a second drive source (5), and a single discharge port connected to the first and the second compression mechanisms. The operation of the hybrid compressor is controlled by a controller (15) in accordance with a control mode. The controller has a first operation mode in which the first compression mechanism alone is driven, a second operation mode in which the second compression mechanism alone is driven, a third operation mode in which the first and the second compression mechanisms are simultaneously driven, and a fourth operation mode in which the first and the second compression mechanisms are simultaneously stopped. Depending upon various conditions, the controller selects, as the control mode, one of the first, the second, the third, and the fourth operation modes.

Abstract: The vehicles accelerator has START and STOP positions. In the STOP position a quantity of thermal energy , which is greater than a positive or negative quantity of thermal energy from a thermal energy transfer medium necessary to produce a target control temperature from the internal heat exchanger (3). The energy is conserved in a thermal storage unit by the thermal energy generating system. Vehicle air conditioning system (1) having an internal heat exchanger (3), fitted in an air pipe (2), to exchange heat between the vehicle interior evacuated air and a thermal energy system exterior to the air pipe (2) and generating positive thermal energy for heating or negative thermal energy to absorb heat. A thermal energy storage system conserves the thermal energy generated . The air conditioning system (1) has a circulation circuit for the thermal energy transfer medium which transfers the thermal energy from the thermal energy generator and/or from the thermal store towards the internal heat exchanger through the thermal energy transfer medium. When the vehicles accelerator is moved to the START position, a quantity of energy generated by the energy generation system is reduced so that it is less than that generated at the moment when the accelerator is actuated to the STOP position. Independent claims are included for refrigerating circuit, compressor, regulator, and further details of START/STOP accelerator controls.
