Abstract: L'invention concerne une cellule d'électrolyse à diaphragme, comprenant une chambre anodique et une chambre cathodique séparées par un diaphragme perméable, une conduite d'admission et une conduite d'extraction d'un électrolyte, un organe de réglage du débit d'électrolyte, un conduit d'évacuation d'un gaz produit dans la chambre anodique ou dans la chambre cathodique et une valve à ouverture réglable, montée dans le conduit d'évacuation du gaz. La cellule selon l'invention est caractérisée en ce qu'elle est pourvue en outre d'un organe de manoeuvre de la valve, comprenant un flotteur relié à la valve par un organe de couplage et logé dans une enceinte qui est en communication, à sa partie supérieure, avec le conduit d'évacuation du gaz, en amont de la valve et, à sa partie inférieure, avec la chambre raccordée au conduit de gaz, l'enceinte, le flotteur et l'organe de couplage étant agencés de manière telle que, d'une part, pendant le fonctionnement normal de la cellule, l'enceinte soit partiellement remplie d'électrolyte et la valve soit partiellement ouverte et, d'autre part, un déplacement progressif ascendant, respectivement descendant du flotteur dans l'enceinte provoque une fermeture progressive, respectivement une ouverture progressive de la valve. Cette cellule peut être utilisée pour l'électrolyse du chlorure de sodium en solution aqueuse de manière à assurer la constance du rapport entre la densité de courant et le débit de liquide à travers le diaphragme.

The tellurium may be partially replaced by molybdenum or tungsten and the catalytic material may also comprise chromium lead, bismuth, antimony, tin, cadmium, titanium, tantalum and/or niobium in the oxidised state. In the examples the compounds of the catalytic elements are applied in solution in an organic solvent to form a coating and the coated structure is heat-treated. The electrodes are tested in the electrolysis of brine with a flowing mercury cathode to produce chlorine. They can also be used in cathodic protection, water purification, other electrolytic processes and as fuel cell electrodes.
