Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printed image from being deteriorated caused by mismatches between an ink ribbon and types of printing paper.
SOLUTION: A printer 6A onto which an ink ribbon 40 and printing paper 40 in roll are mounted for printing an image in 2L size, sequentially prints L+L sized images which are formed by dividing the 2L sized image into two along the travelling direction of the ink ribbon 40 on the printing paper 40. The printing paper 40 on which L+L sized images are consecutively printed are cut at the boundary of the printed images in L size. The L sized images can be printed on the printing paper 40, cutting the printing paper 40 into every L sized image to discharge as a cut print output by using the printer 6A which prints 2L sized images. Thereby, a deterioration of printed images caused by mismatches between the ink ribbon 40 and different types of printing paper 40 can be prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with the use of an ink ribbon and ink and enable a full- color printing process to be performed in a single printing step without the necessity of matching colors. SOLUTION: The printing paper 11 to be used has a color developing layer formed of microcapsules containing yellow, magenta and cyanogen dye having respectively resonance frequencies and a developer for developing each of the dyes, both microcapsules and the developer being fixed in the color developing layer with a binder. Further, ultrasonic waves of amplitudes corresponding to the gradation of each of the colors are generated at frequencies corresponding to the resonance frequencies of the microcapsules, by oscillators 22-1 to 22-n in such a state that the oscillators 22-1 to 22-n of a printing head 12 are kept in contact with the printing paper 11. Thus the printing of dots of yellow, magenta and cyanogen is executed. Consequently, the use of ink ribbons and inks is no longer necessary and the full-color printing process is realized in a single printing step without the necessity of matching the three different colors.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a printer capable of discharging off-specification paper by identifying the length of printing paper in a color video printer. CONSTITUTION:A title printer is provided with a paper supply sensor 224 and a sensor 415 disposed forward of the paper supply sensor 224 in a printing paper feed direction. The leading edge of printing paper is detected by the paper supply sensor 224. The printing paper is further fed. When the leading edge is detected by the sensor 415, the length of the printing paper is equal to a distance 128mm between both the sensors. Herefrom, the printing paper is further fed. The length of the printing paper herefrom until the trailing edge of the printing paper is detected by the paper supply sensor 224 is added to the distance 128mm between the sensors. In this manner, the real length of the printing paper is calculated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the reuse of an ink ribbon, in a color video printer, by changing over the rotary direction of a printing paper feed motor when a printing head moves to a printing standby position after the completion of printing operation to perform the unwinding operation of the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:At the time of printing, at first, printing paper 202 is taken out by the rotation of a feeding roller 213 and fed into a passage M until its rear end is detected by a feeding sensor 224. Next, the reverse operation of a capstan 410 is performed by a stepping motor simultaneously with the taking-up operation of an ink ribbon 10 due to a motor to feed the printing paper 202 in the direction reverse to the feed direction and a head arm 312 is rotated leftward and printing is performed by the head 323 held to the state of contact with a platen 412 under pressure. After printing is completed, the head 323 is moved to the standby position separated from the platen 412 and, at the same time, a reel stand is rotated in a taking-up direction by the rotation of a pendulum gear to remove the slackening of the ink ribbon 10.
