Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to cost reduction of a color cathode-ray tube and the improvement of a yield. SOLUTION: When a high-expansion material is to be jointed to right and left frames, the temperature of the high-expansion material side is set to a room temperature, the temperature of the frame side is set higher by about 50 deg.C than that of the high-expansion material side (step S11), and the high- expansion material is jointed to the right and left frames in this state (step S12). The high-expansion material is jointed to the frames with compression stress occurring on it in the room temperature state before an aperture grille (color discriminating mask) is jointed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive to improve the apparent resolution with simple constitution by providing a double refraction panel and a polarized switch in front of the display device main body. CONSTITUTION:The display device consists of a display device main body 1 obtaining an optical image on the index color cathode ray tube, for example, a double refraction panel 2 and a polarized switch 3 provided in front thereof. The optical image obtained by the display device main body 1 is transmitted through the double refraction panel 2, and the 1st optical image obtained by the double refraction and the 2nd optical image due to abnormal light are obtained and each picture element of the 1st and 2nd optical images is selected to be a location complementary to each other and observed by using the polarized switch 3 through sequential changeover.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To construct a thin plane indicator tube of uniform screen brightness by arranging control electrodes, an electron multiplying means and supporting electrodes in a thin vacuum envelope with a plane transparent panel so as to hold the strength of the envelope. CONSTITUTION:A thin vacuum envelope is constructed with a transparent front panel 1, a rear panel 2 parallel to which and side wall parts 4. Inside of the front panel 1, a cannel plate 9, an image control electrode 10, a scan control electrode 12 and a shield electrode 14 are arranged overlapped respectively, and fixed with several supporting electrodes 8 between the front panel 1 and the rear panel 2. The envelope is this but able to hold enough strength to sustain the atmospheric pressure by the said structure. The supporting electrode 8 consists of two 8a, 8b the surface potentials of which are controlled differently, and by controlling the said potentials the density of electron cloud produced from a line cathode 5 can be made uniform to unify the screen brightness.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify the polishing process by combining a plurality of glass panels such that the outer faces will be flush then polishing the outer faces simultaneously thereafter cutting and producing a plurality of glass panels. CONSTITUTION:The tubular body 35 of flat cathode-ray tube 35 is formed by jointing the screen glass panel 32 having a fluorescent screen 1, the front glass panel 33 at viewing side and the glass funnel 34 having the neck section 36 containing an electron gun 7 respectively through a seal edge face. Here, the front glass panel 33 is temporarily formed into a glass member 50 having such a shape as two panels 33, 33' are combined then the seal edge faces 33c, 33c' are polished and the outer faces 33a, 33a' are polished thereafter it is splitted into two and to polish the seal edge faces 33d, 33d'. Since single polishing process of the outer face of panel is required, it can be simplified resulting in facilitation of manufacture.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect accurately the rotational position of an electron gun structure without any modification by a method in which a flat electrode used in the electron gun structure, is irradiated with a light beam, the reflected light is received by a light detector, and the relative rotational position of the structure and bulb is determined. CONSTITUTION:A light source 24, half-mirror 25, slit 26, and light detector 27 are provided in a prescribed position of the device, while those units are provided for rotationally locating at a prescribed position an electron gun structure 1 mounted on a mount pin, and when a flat plane of an outside electrode plate 2a of a convergence means 2 of the structure 1 is arranged so as to face the light source 24, a light beam transmitted through the mirror 25 is radiated perpendicularly on the electrode plate 2a, a reflected light which is deflected at the mirror 25 by a right angle is introduced into the light detector 27 through the slit 26 when the outside electrode plate 2a coincides with a rotational prescribed position. Thus the rotation of an electron gun structure is detected easily and accurately.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the reduction in an amplitude due to resonance of a frame by equipping a color selection structure frame with a composite which consists of a mobile vibration absorber weighing 1/10 to 1/100 of this frame and an attenuator. CONSTITUTION:A color selection structure frame 2 is equipped with a composite 9 which consists of a mobile vibration absorber 7 weighing 1 /10 to 1/100 of this frame 2 and an attenuator 8. One or plural number of these composites 9 are installed as needed on resonant parts of the frame 2. Resonance on main resonance points is suppressed by the mobile vibration absorber 7, and a peak of resonance on resonance points generated on both sides is lowered by equipping the mobile vibration absorber 7 with the attenuator 8 which functions to attenuate the vibration by the use of friction. Thus, the amplitude of the frame 2 can be wholly reduced.
