    Abstract: A plasma addressed display device comprising a display cell comprising a first substrate having transparent electrodes arranged in a column on an inner surface, a microsheet glass adhered at a gap to the first substrate and a liquid crystal layer held in the gap and a plasma cell comprising a second substrate having discharge electrodes arranged in a row and a plurality of barrier ribs to an inner surface and an ionizable gas sealed between the second substrate and the microsheet glass, wherein the second substrate is adhered to the lower surface of the microsheet glass by way of a bonding material disposed between barrier ribs situated to the outer side and barrier ribs situated to an inner side thereof, the first substrate is adhered to the upper surface of the microsheet glass by way of an adhesive material disposed being aligned with the bonding material, and the adhesive material has such a sealing width as extending over the sealing width of the bonding material and extending for the distance between the barrier rib situated outer side and the barrier rib situated inner side. The strength of the microsheet glass separating the plasma cell and the display cell is compensated by the adhesive material.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the brightness of a display screen and to make it possible to adjust the brightness by disposing reflection films formed in parallel with second electrodes between the surface having no second electrodes of a second substrate and a light transmission plate. CONSTITUTION:The exit light from a lamp 4 of an illumination part is made incident directly on the light transmission plate 2 and is reflected by a reflector 5 so as to be made incident on the light transmission plate 2. The reflection films 1 are formed at the same width as the width of discharge electrodes 10 or the width slightly narrower than this width at the same intervals as the inter-electrode pitch of the discharge electrodes 10 on the surface of the light transmission plate 2 facing substrate glass 11. In such a case, the incident light on the light transmission plate 2 repeats reflection. This light is reflected and diffused by the reflection diffusion surface 3 within the light transmission plate 2 and is emitted from slit widths Q between the discharge electrodes 10 and the discharge electrodes 10. The light with which the reflection films 1 is irradiated is reflected by the reflection films l and is reflected by the reflection diffusion surface 3 and thereafter, the light is emitted from the slits Q. As a result, the illuminance of the display screen is enhanced.

SOLUTION: This plasma address liquid crystal display device has a flat panel structure where a liquid crystal cell 1 provided with a signal electrode 10 like a column and a plasma cell 2 provided with a discharge channel 5 like a row are joined to each other with an intermediate thin glass plate 3 between them. The arrival of the liquid crystals at the prescribed positions of the liquid crystal chambers are detected by liquid crystal sensors 160-1 to 160-n disposed for each of the respective plasma address display devices 1 and thereafter, the time for completion of the liquid crystal injection at the plasma address display devices 1-i (i=1 to n) is determined in accordance therewith. The injection of the liquid crystals is completed by closing the vacuum evaluation valves 140-i of the plasma address display devices 1-i , opening leak valves 150-i and opening the discharge ports 47-i to the atm. when the time described above is attained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the manufacturing method by which the peripheral part of a plasma substrate can be coated with a specified amount of a sealant and accordingly, the plasma substrate and a liquid crystal substrate can appropriately be joined together and also to provide the equipment for manufacturing the device. CONSTITUTION: In this manufacture, a plasma substrate 1P is placed on a stage 140 and a syringe 130 is moved based on the data stored in a control data storage section 151 and also, a prescribed location to be coated with a sealant in the plasma substrate 1P is preliminarily scanned. At this time, the space between a sealant discharge port 131 and the plasma substrate 1P is detected by a height sensor 125 and the detected value of the space is compared with a predetermined desirable value of the space in a comparing and corresponding section 152 to determine the difference between them. Based on the difference, the movement data of the syringe 130, which are stored in the control data storage section 151 are corrected in a control section 154. Based on the corrected movement data, the syringe is moved to perform the regular scanning. At the time of performing the regular scanning, the sealant is discharged from the sealant discharge port 131 to coat the prescribed location in the plasma substrate 1P with the sealant.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the manufacturing method by which evacuation ports can be sealed through injecting a sealant into the evacuation ports in a short time. CONSTITUTION: In this manufacture, a liquid crystal chamber 48 formed by joining a dielectric sheet 3 and a color filter 41 together is provided with evacuation ports 47a and 47b and a sealant 49 is stuck to a part of each of the evacuation ports 47a and 47b and the liquid crystal chamber 48 is evacuated to a reduced pressure through liquid crystal injection pork 46a and 46b provided in the color filter 41. As a result, the stuck sealant 49 is sucked from the parts of the 47a and 47b and forced to flow in the liquid crystal chamber 48 toward its inner side and when the sealant 49 reaches positions (p) of the evacuation ports 47a and 47b, which are equivalent to the position of a frit-sealing section 25, the sealant 49 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays to cure the sealant 49 and to seal the evacuation ports 47a and 47b. Thus, the liquid crystal chamber 48, every part of which except the liquid crystal injection ports 46a and 46b is hermetically sealed can be formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To keep off any an emission drop due to gas generation or the like by fusing and fixing a tip part of an elastic support piece via a metal plate when an electron gun is held and fixed in a tube. CONSTITUTION:When an elastic support piece 14 holding an electron gun 13 is fixed on a tube inner wall, such a metal plate 15 that is good in an adhesive property with glass 12 and almost equal in a thermal expansion coefficient is stuck to the specified position on the tube inner wall with frit glass or the like. Afterward, the electron gun 13 is inserted into the extent of a position where a tip part of the elastic support piece 14 comes into contact with, on the metal plate 15, and the tip part of the elastic support piece 14 and the metal plate 15 are locally fused together by a laser beam or the like. With this constitution, even if gas generated by heating when the metal plate is stuck to the tube inner wall, an electron gun mounting process is carried out later that, so that a cathode is in no case oxidized, thus there is no problem that emission is lowered.
