Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain good friction characteristics by applying physical etching to a part corresponding to a specified area and roughing when manufacturing a metal mold to be used for molding a substrate for a magnetic disc, with a specified area of which a magnetic head comes into contact during the time of non-rotating drive. SOLUTION: In an etching step, the surface of a substrate 5 is ion-etched for a metal mold for a resist 5 with a specified uneven pattern and also for a part not wrapped with the resist 6, using an ion beam 8 inside an ion etching device. In this case, the surface of the substrate 5 for the metal mold for the resist 6 with a specified pattern and the part not wrapped with the resist 6, is roughed. The surface of the substrate 5 for the metal mold not wrapped with the resist 6 is rough as the surface is directly subjected to a physical etching process. Thus it is possible to manufacturing the metal mold for molding the substrate with a specified uneven pattern made up of a recessed part and a projecting part, both having a surface roughed by the physical etching process.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize reproduction by controlling amount of floating of a head slider for the entire surface of a magnetic disc keeping constant a load capacity through constant ratio of the projected and recessed areas of the read only data zone and reprogrammable data zone in a magnetic disc. SOLUTION: The internal circumference side of a magnetic disc 3 is formed of a read only data track DTR composed of the concentric recessed and projected areas and a data track DTW of reprogrammable area formed of the projected area in the external circumference side and these have the guard bands GBR, GBW of the recessed area for the adjacent data track sections and the servo patterns SPR, SPW are also formed by the projected or recessed areas. A load capacity which is a parameter of the floating force of the head slider is determined by the ratio of the recessed areas. Therefore, in the recessed and projected areas of PTW, GBW and DTR, GBR, the track width of projected area/track pich-recessed track width is adjusted to adjust the ratio of the recessed area and projected area to 4.5 or less to keep constant the amount of floating of the head slider even in any areas.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable highly accurate detection of a protrusion on a magnetic recording medium by providing a resistor with a sensor sensitivity exceeding a specified value as such for detecting changes in temperature when hitting the protrusion on the magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: Generally, as the noise of a sensor is above about 50mV and the resolutions of a voltage comparator for judging a noise and a signal are about 10mV, a protrusion on a magnetic disc 6 can not be judged if an output voltage is below 6.0mV. So, a resistor 4 of a protrusion detecting sensor 1 is used with the sensitivity S of at least 1.15 e10 (%/J)or more and at least 2.0 e9 (%/J) or move when the sensor noise is zero as expressed by the formula S=&Egr;/(η.I.h.t.ν) (wherein S:sersor sensitivity and :temperature sensitivity of sensor and the η, I, h, t, ν represent specific heat, width, height, thickness and density). This enables sufficient detection of the protrusion of the magnetic disc 6.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a ratio occupied by a servo area and to increase a recording area for data by executing the development of a photosensitive resist film in such a manner that the developing speed in a thickness direction is higher than the developing speed in a surface direction. SOLUTION: If the developing speed in the thickness direction is higher than the developing speed in the surface direction, the development may be progressed down to the prescribed depth while a developed area does not spread on the upper side of the resist. Consequently, recessed parts are so formed as to substantially eliminate the difference in the sectional areas on the upper side and the lower side on a resist master disk, by which steep edges are formed. Then, the rugged shapes of steep edges are also formed on a stamper formed with rugged patterns as the inversion patterns. The developing speed in the thickness direction may be higher than the developing speed in the surface direction simply by previously treating the resist film before the exposure by an alkaline soln.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To sufficiently deal with the short wavelength of a recording wavelength by supporting a magnetic head with a leaf spring attached approximately in parallel to a disk face. CONSTITUTION:On a supporting frame 6, slits 7, 8 in order to attach and fix the leaf springs 4, 5, in parallel to the disk face are provided, and a head part 2 is supported along a clearance groove 6a to move freely up and down. Consequently, the head part can follow up a hard disk 1 even if the disk has an uneven surface, and the state of good contact is always maintained. Also, the magnetic head 2 is supported by two leaf springs 4, 5 having an adequate elastic modulus, the force applied in the direction of the disk 1 shows a suitable value, and sliding durability of the disk 1 is also secured. In addition, a spacing loss is reduced, a high density by means of the short wavelength recording is attained, and the short wavelength is sufficiently dealt with.

The irradiating light f1 to the data surface 11 from the direction of the arrow mark (c) is linearly polarized when it is transmitted through the polarizer 33, and its angle of polarization is made equal uniformly, and since its reflected lights f2, f3 are received after being transmitted through the polarizer 33, the light f3 to be received after reflected by a guard band 24 becomes bright, and the light f3 to be received after reflected by a recording track 23 becomes dark, and the light receiving element 35 can detects the band 24 and the track 23 according to the lightness or the darkness of the light due to the change of the angle of polarization.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a disk substrate correctly without deformation of the disk substrate by a method wherein a disk holding surface is provided at a disk holding member and a disk is held from the inside with a pressure applied to the interior of the disk by the disk holding surface. SOLUTION: For a disk holding member 1, a main surfasce thereof is formed in a rectangular block-like shape and a plurality of disk holding grooves 2 for engagement with an inner circumferential part of a center hole of a disk are formed at the disk holding surface. Then, two pieces of the disk holding members 1 are inserted into the center hole of the disk and respectively fitted to opposite inner circumferential edges of the center hole and pressed toward the outer circumferential direction of the disk, and thereby the disk is held from its inner circumferential side. Or, a disk holding member 5 may be formed in a sheet-like shape with a plurality of disk holding grooves provided, and after the sheet-like member is rolled up and inserted into a center hole of a disk 6, a pressure is applied from the inner circumferential side to the outer circumferential side with the rolled-up member unrolled, and the disk 6 is held therewith.

SOLUTION: The device is used to record and/or reproduce information on a disk shaped information recording medium 5. A vibration preventing member 31 is provided to the device to prevent the vibration of the medium 5 caused by a shock by letting an outer peripheral section 5a of the medium 5 abut against the member 31. Thus, even though a shock is applied to the device and the medium 5 vibrates, no damage is induced on the medium.
