Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that conducts smooth exposure control with respect to an illuminance change of an object, while securing proper S/N in a photographing under low illuminance conditions. SOLUTION: The imaging device 1 is provided with a lens section 11, that photographs the image of an object, a CCD 12 that applies photoelectric conversion to an incident light from the lens section, an S/H(sample and hold) circuit 13 that applies sampling and holding to the signals obtained through photoelectric conversion, a gain amplifier AGC 14 that adjust signal level, a signal processing circuit 15 that obtains a video signal, a shutter drive circuit 18 that adjusts the storage time of the electric charges of the CCD 12, and a control section 16 that sorts exposure control by gain adjustment and exposure control by storage time control, on the basis of a sorting pattern.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a displacement quantity detection output with high resolution by performing focus control over a detecting means which detects optically a code pattern formed repeatedly on a code late at constant intervals with laser light. CONSTITUTION:A driving circuit 9 for a driving coil which moves the objective 6 of an optical pickup 1 in optical-axis directions is brought under focus servocontrol and the laser light projected on the code pattern surface is held in the best focus state under the focus servocontrol even if the surface of the code plate 2 waves owing to rotation. The laser light is converged stably by the objective 6 to irradiate with the code pattern surface of the code plate 2 with the laser light having an extremely small spot diameter, and the laser light reflected by the code plate 2 is detected by the photodetector 7 of the optical pickup 3. Consequently, the code pattern with fine pitch is read and the high-resolution encoding output is obtained by the photodetector 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a displacement detection output with high resolution by allowing four division detectors to detect optically a code pattern which is formed repeatedly at intervals narrower than the spot diameter of laser light projected on a code plate, and composing an encoding output of respective detection outputs. CONSTITUTION:The photodetector 29 of an optical pickup 20 generates two- phase sine wave detection outputs A-D corresponding to the code pattern 11 by four division detectors 29A-29D, whose in-phase components are put together. Further, the addition composite outputs SC and SD are processed by subtraction to obtain a stable sine wave subtraction composite output SF while canceling offset variations of the respective outputs. The waveform of the subtraction composite output SF is shaped by a waveform shaping circuit 35A. Consequently, an encoding output corresponding to the code pattern formed on the code plate 10 is obtained.
