Abstract: Head wherein an axis of easy magnetization in the vicinity of a magnetic gap (g) of a magnetic yoke (37) is forcibly made coincident with the direction of a track width by a magnetic field due to current flowing in a conductor layer (1). Accordingly, even though the track width is small, a high magnetic permeability, low Barkhausen noise and linear responsiveness can be realized to thereby improve the sensitivity, output and linearity. In another aspect of the invention, a throat portion is eliminated from a thin film magnetic core forming a magnetic gap. Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent lack of a recording data and to evade deterioration of a reproducing picture and a reproducing sound by detecting whether a recording error is generated in a recording signal or not and recording the signal with a preliminary recording means when the recording error is detected. CONSTITUTION:When a main recording head 4A of a 1st recording and reproducing system 10A is brought under the infeasible state of recording the recording signal SREC and the recording signal SREC is not recorded, this is detected by a clogging detecting circuit 18 via a reproducing head 5A, and a switch circuit 12 is immediately turned off, and also a switch circuit 16 is turned on as well, and then the recording head 4A is changed over to the preliminary recording head 15A to continue the recording operation. By this constitution, when the main recording heads 4A-4D are clogged and so forth to come under the infeasible state of recording the recording signal SREC, they are replaced with the corresponding preliminary recording heads 15A-15D to record a data, so that the recording signal SREC can securely be recorded, and lack of the recording data is prevented, and hence deterioration of the reproducing picture and reproducing sound can be evaded.
