Abstract: A flexible draw latch for use in securing two closure members together comprises a keeper 10 adapted to be affixed to one of the closure members, a mounting bracket 20 adapted to be affixed to the other closure members, a lever 30 pivotally connected to the mounting bracket, and a locking member 40 made of a flexible, resilient material pivotally connected to the lever wherein the locking member is detachable connected to the keeper and wherein the locking member is disposed in overlying relation to the keeper, the mounting bracket and the lever when the latch is in a closed, latched position and wherein the pivot connection between the lever and the locking member is closer to the closure member than the pivot connection between the lever and the mounting bracket when the latch is in a closed, latched position. A cross-pin 150 is transversely disposed within the keeper-engageable portion of the locking member to prevent localized deformation and to relieve stress on the locking member. Longitudinal ribs are provided to lower the neutral axis of the locking member and help prevent the locking member from bending when elongated.

Abstract: A draw pull latch for securing two members together comprises a keeper affixed to one of the members and a second one-piece part which is composed of three segments; i.e., a base segment, an intermediate segment, and a locking segment. The base segment is adapted for being affixed to the second one of the members and the intermediate segment is flexibly connected to the base segment and the locking segment for pivotal movement of the segments about transverse axes. When in the locked condition, the intermediate segment is disposed in substantially coplanar relation to the base segment, and the locking segment is disposed in overlying relation to the base segment and the intermediate segment and to the keeper. The locking segment is detachably connected to the keeper, and the flexible connection between the intermediate and locking segments is closer to the second member than the flexible connection between the intermediate and base segments. The base segment has recesses in the sides thereof which mate with lugs in the cavity of the locking segment. A secondary locking feature is provided by use of an angular catch member disposed between the one-piece part and the second member and having a leg portion extending through the locking segment whereby the locking segment is retained in the latched condition. A finger notch is provided on the locking segment which, along with the outwardly extending edge of the catch member facilitates the opening of the latch, when desired.

Abstract: A latch of the pull-up type for a cabinet door is latched and unlatched by turning the latch handle in one direction or the other. When the door is in latched position, rotating the latch handle in the unlatching direction initially causes a spring-biased shaft, which carries a latching pawl, to move axially inwardly. This inward movement of the shaft is permitted because a cam in the handle is moved rotationally to present downwardly sloping cam surfaces to opposite ends of a cam-follower pin which is mounted on the shaft near its outer end. The shaft is prevented from rotating on its own axis until a motion-control cross pin, which is also mounted on the shaft, is moved inwardly a sufficient distance to escape from axial motion-control slots in a support sleeve which is mounted on the door at an opening therein and through which the shaft passes. As soon as the motion-control pin emerges from the motion-control slots, it is able to move laterally into lateral arcuate motion-control recesses in the support sleeve, thereby to allow the shaft and the latch pawl to turn out of the way of the cabinet frame. To latch the door, the action described takes place in reverse order.
