    Abstract: The invention provides a method for making water-blown closed cell rigid foams comprising using as a polymer base a polyol selected from the group consisting of: (a) a polyester polyol with an average functionality of at least 1.6 and an OH value of at least 200; and (b) a polyether polyol with an average functionality of at least 2 and an OH value of at least 200. The invention also provides water-blown closed cell rigid foams comprising a polymer base selected from the group consisting of: (a) a polyester polyol with an average functionality of at least 1.6 and an OH value of at least 200; and (b) a polyether polyol with an average functionality of at least 2 and an OH value of at least 200.
