Abstract: In an apparatus having a record mode for recording video or other information signals in successive parallel information tracks on a record tape by means of a plurality of rotary heads repeatedly scanning across said tape and having respective gaps with different azimuth angles, and in which the apparatus is changeable to a playback mode for causing each of said heads to provide a respective output when it is scanning an information track in which information signals have been previously recorded by a head with a gap having the same azimuth angle; clogging of one or more of the head gaps which would prevent further recording is detected, in the playback mode, by switching from one to another of the outputs of the heads during each period required forthe scanning of the tape by each of the heads, detecting the levels of the head outputs during such switching therebetween, and operating a clog indicator when the detected levels of the head outputs are insufficient during the scanning of the tape by each of the heads. In order to avoid a false clog indication, the operation of the clog indicator is inhibited when the usual fixed head does not reproduce control signals in the playback mode, for example, as when there has been no previous recording of information signals on the record tape.

Abstract: A control circuit for a DC capstan motor used for driving a tape having control signals thereon is adapted for accurate stopping of the tape during intermittent-motion operation. A frequency generator coupled to the motor generates a frequency signal whose frequency is proportional to the motor's speed. A position signal generating circuit generates a position value that increments by steps upon occurrences of the frequency signal. A clamp circuit clamps the position value to a clamping level upon detection of the control signals. A brake start signal generator provides a brake start pulse signal when the position value exceeds a predetermined threshold, and this brake start pulse signal is used to commence braking of the motor. In order to permit accurate stopping in both forward and reverse directions, the clamping circuit provides one clamping level when a forward mode is selected and another clamping level when a reverse mode is selected.

Abstract: In an apparatus which reproduces video signals from oblique tracks successively formed on a tape, there is provided with at least two main rotary heads having different azimuth angles to each other and a auxiliary rotary head having the same azimuth angle as that of one of the main rotary heads and which is disposed to substantially scan the same track as that scanned by the one of the main rotary heads. For slow motion reproduction of the recorded video signals, the tape is intermittently driven by predetermined number of tracks at every predetermined time interval, and during the tape being stopped, the video signals are alternately reproduced by the one of the main rotary heads and the auxiliary rotary head, while the video signals are alternately reproduced by the two main rotary heads during the tape being moved.

Abstract: In an apparatus for reproducing video signals recorded in successive parallel tracks extending at an angle to the lengthwise direction of a tape and wherein two main reproducing heads having different azimuth angles with respect to each other are arranged to be diametrically opposed and alternately reproduce the video signals from the tracks when the tape is transported lengthwise at a standard speed, and an auxiliary reproducing head having the same azimuth angle as one of the main reproducing heads is circumferentially displaced by (n+0.25)H' from another of the main reproducing heads where n is zero or a positive integer and H' is an angle corresponding to one horizontal scan line on the tape, from the auxiliary reproducing head and reproduces the video signals in cooperation with one of the main reproducing heads when the tape is stopped and delay control means for alternately delaying the reproduced video signal from one of the main reproducing heads and the video signal from the auxiliary reproducing head by an amount corresponding to a break in the continuity of the horizontal synchronizing pulses which occurs in synchronism with the changing of the reproduction of said video signals by the one of the main reproducing heads and auxiliary reproducing head.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing medium that records a voice signal relating to a photographed image and the recording and reproducing device that records and reproduces the voice signal to/from the printing medium. SOLUTION: The printing medium 10 with memory consists of a printing paper sheet on which a photographed image is printed out and of a memory card 20 that is imbedded in the printing paper sheet for each photographed image to be printed. The recording and reproducing device for the printing medium 10 with memory is provided with a medium set section on which the printing medium 10 with memory is placed, a setting means that sets the recording and reproducing device 30 to the write mode of voice data onto the memory card 20 and to the read mode of voice data from the memory card 20, a microphone and a loudspeaker respectively. The user can automatically record the voice data relating to the photographed image onto the memory card 20 and reproduce the voice data recorded on the memory card 20 by using the recording and reproducing device.

A control device 4 control the device so that after recording operation is started at a reservation time of start of recording, continuation of recording operation and reproduction of a recorded picture are performed till a finish time by indicating reproduction/ recording by a user only one time. Consequently, a recorded picture can be reproduced even before recording is finished.
