Abstract:
A data edition method enabling reduction of the load of the edition processing of stream data recorded on a recording medium and realizing higher speed edition. It is assumed that the stream data recorded on the recording medium is managed as a file by a file system. The stream data is managed track by track using a track management data file managed by the file system. The edition of division and erase is executed track by track by rewriting the content of the track management information defining each track in the track management data file. With this configuration, it is not necessary to rewrite the file system when division or erase edition is executed track by track.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information such as a program table efficiently by applying hierarchical processing to the information. SOLUTION: Data of an electronic program guide to be served are classified into data (A1 data) which may be revised such as a broadcast year/month/day, a start time and an end time, data (A2 data) such as a program name which cannot be changed, and data of still/moving images and audio data (A3 data) hierarchically and data of a hierarchy corresponding to each medium are served. The A3 data are referenced by one or a plurality of the A2 data and the A2 data are referenced by one or a plurality of the Al data.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a managing system for recording medium which registers and stores an information to be recorded according to a recording medium loaded in a recording and reproducing device, displaying the information to be recorded of a recording medium loaded at the time of reproduction, and can manage efficiently a recording medium, with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In a managing unit 2 provided in a VTR body 1, when a video cassette tape 14, in which a color mark information is stored in a memory 7, is loaded to a loading part 15, recording condition information of the tape is read out by a CPU 5, displayed on a display section 6, and an operator can confirm easily picture recording contents of the tape, and precise processing for control such as continuous picture recording in the tape and the like can be performed. At the time of picture recording, recording condition information to be recorded written in and set with an operation section 8 by an operator is stored in the memory 7 corresponding to color mark information, the video cassette tape 14 can be managed efficiently based on recording condition information, and the video cassette tape 14 taken out from a VTR body 1 can be precisely managed by a color mark discriminating it from the other tape.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the easy setting of reserved video recording even for the set information with the system different from a preset system. SOLUTION: When the presetting is being made to the system to set the reserved video recording by using a G code, the guide of 'input G code please' is made by voice at ST1. When the input of set information of the reserved video recording is not effected during the period longer than specified time in ST2-ST5, or the input is discriminated as incorrect at ST3, the input of the G code is prompted at ST6, and also an asterisk is added first when the information not the G code, e.g. the start time of video recording, is inputted. When the first input of the set information at ST7 is not '*', the set information is processed as the G code, and the reserved video recording is set. When the first input is '*', the set information is processed as the information different from the G code, such as the start time of video recording or the like, then the reserved video recording is set.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reserve video recording such as a TV program even by a visually handicapped person with poor eye sight, as well as a person without physical handicap. SOLUTION: This device 100 is provided with a remote commander 1 with 12 button switches '0'-'9', '*', '#' which are arranged in the same key arrangement as that of a pushphone telephone set, a microcomputer 3 that sets video recording reservation information to a video recorder 300 based on output information of the remote commander, and a voice synthesis generator 4 that makes a voice guidance of setting procedures with respect to video recording reservation, based on control information from the microcomputer 3. Then a specific frequency synthesis tone is made corresponding to each of the button switches '0'-'9', '*', '#' and when each of the button switches '0'-'9', '*', '#'is depressed, a frequency synthesis tones of different kind are made to sound from a loudspeaker 6.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a reservation setting time by assigning an exclusive password corresponding to a plurality of operation designation method and designating an operation method by a password directly not through a plurality of an operation designation method selection procedure. SOLUTION: When a telephone set 11 is operated and a caller makes a call to a video recording device, a line 21 is closed and a voice guidance is transmitted. The caller operates keys of the telephone set 11 based on the voice guidance by a voice synthesis means 5 to send a password. An exclusive password is assigned for each operation method such as a time designation reservation method and a G code designation method. When the caller depresses 4-digits of the password denoting the time designation reservation method, the setting procedure by the time designation reservation method is set. When a password for the G code designation method is entered, the G code designation method is accepted. When a G code and a DTMF signal are received, a DTMF decode means 3 and a microcomputer 2 analyzes the contents and conduct the setting.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow, e.g. a television receiver or the like to confirm information relating to a caller without movement in the vicinity of a telephone set in the case of receiving a caller telephone number display service. SOLUTION: A control circuit 4 allows a character generator 9 to generate a character signal based on a caller ID number detected by a caller telephone number detection circuit 2 and allows the character generator to generate a character signal when data relating to the caller are read from a memory 5. The character signal is synthesized with a video signal from a tuner/external input selection circuit 8 and the result is fed to a CRT 11. A video image is displayed on a screen of the CRT 11 and information relating to the caller is displayed to an edge of the screen.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the editing operation of a higher speed by contriving to reduce the burden of the editing process of stream data to be recorded on a recording medium. SOLUTION: The stream data to be recorded on the recording medium are arranged so as to be controlled in a track unit by a data file for track control which is controlled by a file system on the assumption that the data are controlled as the file by the file system. Then, the edit of the division and erase in the track unit are performed by rewriting the contents of the track control information stipulating each track in the data file for track control. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide at a low price a recording and reproducing device for television programs which uses a hard disk. SOLUTION: A recording system is provided with a data compressing circuit 3V, which compress the data of a video signal, and a reproduction system is provided with a data expanding circuit 6V of the data of a playback signal. The data compressing circuit 3V outputs its output signal, so that a main signal SMN representing rough information and a reinforcing signal SSB providing information close to the original information by reinforcing the main signal SMN are divided and outputted. The data expanding circuit 6V expands the data of the main signal SMN and reinforcing signal SSB into a video, signal having the information close to the original information and output, when supplied with the both as the playback signal and expands the data of the main signal SMN into a video signal having rough information and outputs, when supplied with only the main signal SMN as the playback signal. The residual quantity of the hard disk 5 become less than a specified quantity, the reinforcing signal SSB recorded on the hard disk 5 is erased.
