    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the imposition of excessive load to the guide chain placed along the path of the running thread in a carbonization furnace, by placing a clutch between the roller to extend and transfer the thread in the furnace and the chain wheel supporting the guide chain, and engaging the chain with the wheel only in the case of guiding the thread. CONSTITUTION:A number of rollers to extend the thread in the carbonization furnace 6 are placed above the furnace, and chain wheels 6L and 15L are attached freely rotatably to both ends of each roller. The guide chain 10L is extended over the wheels, and an ending bar 12 is extended over both guide chains 10L. The thread 1 supplied from the feed roller 2 is attached to the ending guide 12, and the chain 10L is driven and circulated by the motor 11 to introduce the thread 1 into the carbonization furnace 7. The above apparatus is furnished with the clutches 8R, 8L to transmit the rotation of the roller 6 to the chain wheel 6R, 6L attached thereto only in the case of introducing the thread 1 into the furnace 7.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the threading in a carbonization furnace, by placing clutches between at least the first roller in the rollers for extending and transferring the thread in the carbonization furnace and its driving shaft, and between the feeding roller of the carbonization furnace and its driving shaft, and making the clutches freely rotatable at need. CONSTITUTION:A number of roollers 9, 18 to extend the thread in a carbonization furnace 6 are placed above and below the furnace. Chains 12L and 12R are extended endlessly over the chain wheels 9L, 9R, 18L and 18R attached to both ends of each rollers, and an ending bar 14 is extended between the chains. In the above carbonization apparatus, a clutch 4 is placed between the feed rollers 2(1),2(2) and the driving source 5, and a clutch 16 is placed between the first roller 9(1) in the rollers to extend the thread in the furnace and its driving source 17, to make the rollers freely rotatable at need. The above apparatus prevents the imposition of excessive tensile stress to the thread and accordingly the frequent end breakage of the thread even if a large shrinkage of the thread takes place in the introduction of the thread into the furnace by binding the thread end to the bar 14.
