    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer solution decreased in microgel formed and improved in moldability, by adding a radical polymerization inhibitor to a specified acrylonitrile polymer solution after conducting a derived polymerization. CONSTITUTION:Acrylonitrile and 0-10mol% vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g., acrylic acid) are subjected to a solution polymerization at 40-90 deg.C in an inorganic or organic solvent in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g., azobisisobutyronitrile) and a chain transfer agent (e.g., dodecyl mercaptan) to obtain an acrylonitrile polymer solution (A) for the production of an acrylonitrile molding. Component A is mixed with at least one radical polymerization inhibitor selected from among (B) an N-nitrosophenyl compound, a hydrazine compound, an aldoxime compound and a mixture of an N-nitrosophenyl compound with a phenyl compound in an amount of at least 1/2mol per mol of the radical polymerization initiator remaining in the acrylonitrile polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled solution having remarkably decreased amount of microgel in the polymer and giving reduced load in maintenance of a filter, by controlling the amount and charging order of each raw material compound in the solution polymerization in a batch polymerization reactor by continuous operation. CONSTITUTION:A batch polymerization reactor is charged with (A) acrylonitrile. Prior to the charge of 50wt.% of the acrylonitrile based on the whole amount to be charged, the reactor is charged with (B) a vinyl compound having destructive chain-transfer action (e.g. acrylic acid) or (C) a chain-transfer agent (e.g. hypophosphorous acid) in amounts corresponding to >=10wt.% of the charging amount of each component. After completing the charge of the entire amount of the components A, B and C according to conventional process, the batch polymerization reactor is continuously operated to effect the solution polymerization of the components A and B in the presence of the component C to obtain the objective solution. The polymerization initiator is preferably charged first at the stage when the charge of the components A, B and C are completed.
