    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title film resistant to surface scratch and can give a magnetic medium excellent in image quality and dropout prevention by using organic particles of a specified strength and specifying the number of protrusions on the film surface. CONSTITUTION:The film contains organic particles (desirably divinylbenzene particles and/or silicone particles) having a 10% deformation strength of 3-30kgf/ mm and has 2X10 -5X10 protrusions/mm on at least one surface. Although the polymer as a constituent of the film is not particularly limited, a polyester mainly consisting of ethylene terephthalate is preferable because the dubbing and scratch resistances can be improved thereby. This film is resistant to surface scratch and can give a magnetic medium excellent in image quality and dropout prevention.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance scratch resistance and to especially improve dubbing resistance as a magnetic recording body by forming a biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin film by providing a film layer A based on a thermoplastic resin A containing specific inert particles to at least the single surface of a film layer B based on a thermoplastic resin B. CONSTITUTION:As a thermoplastic resin layer B, a crystalline polymer, for example, polyester or polyamide is used. A thermoplastic resin layer A composed of, for example, ethylene terephthalate or ethylene 2,6-naphthalate is formed to the surface of the layer B. The particle size of inert particles, for example, composed of colloidal silica contained in the resin layer A is 0.2-5 times the thickness of the layer A, the content thereof is 0.05-20wt.% and the thickness of the layer A itself is 0.005-3mum. The particles are treated with 0.0001-10.0wt.% of an isocyanate compound and 0.0001-10.0wt.% of a water-soluble polyester compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the film having excellent scratch resistance even during high-speed traveling by specifying the surface form (Rp/Ra ratio) of the nonmagnetic surface of the video tape and the curling characteristic of the tape to specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:The pellets formed by mixing the particle master pellets of polyethylene (PE) terephthalate contg. the particles and the pellets of the PE terephthalate contg. substantially no particles in such a manner that the content of the particles attains a prescribed ration are dried under a reduced pressure. These pellets are supplied to an extruder and are melt extruded and cooled to solidity, by which an unstretched film is formed. This film is stretched longitu dinally and is further stretched transversely. The stretched film is heat treated to obtain the biaxially oriented film. A magnetic coating material is applied on this film and is subjected to magnetic orientation. The coating is then dried. Further, the film is subjected to a calender treatment then to curing. The Rp/Ra ratio of the nonmagnetic surface is 4 to 20 at this time and the curling amt. is 0.05 to 1mm. The measurement of the scratch resistance reveals that the film satisfying the Rp/Ra ration and the curling characteristic is excellent in the scratching resistance as well even during the high-speed traveling.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve scratch resistance, by a method wherein organic high- molecular particles are contained within a film and a relation between a surface parameter and the coefficient of friction and a single index of the particle are made so as to fall within specific range. CONSTITUTION:The title film is mainly comprised of a composition composed of polyester and inactive organic high-molecular particles whose temperature at the time of a loss in weight by 10% is at least 350 deg.C, possesses a single index of the particle of the inactive organic high-molecular particles of at least 0.5 and satisfies formulas I, II by a relation between the coefficient of friction Y of the film and a surface parameter (beta/sigma). Hereupon, sigma and beta are respectively standard deviation of a distribution of heights of the protrusions and mean flatness of the protrusions. Then the film is principally constituted of a structural unit selected out of polyester ethylene terephthalate, ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2- chlorphenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicalboxylate, and ethylene 2,6-naphthalate units. With this construction, the film which is hard to be scraped off and hard to be injured even at running under a high temperature and high humidity can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To manufacture a polyester film of superior resistance to wear by specifying the density difference range between the film and contained particles, the range of average particle diameters of the particles and the content of them and the range of thickness direction refractive index respectively. CONSTITUTION:0.01-5wt.% of inactive particles of 0.08-3mum average particle diameter are included in a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or the like. Then, said polyester is dried, fed into an extruder and filtered with high accuracy, and then melt extruded out of a slit-shaped cap, cooled and solidified to manufacture a non-oriented film. Said non-oriented film is biaxially stretched and biaxially oriented to manufacture a polyester film having 0.65g/cm or less of density difference between the polyester film and inactive particles and 1.47-1.53 refractive index in the thickness direction. Affinity between inactive particles and polyester is enhanced by said process to generate special interaction and form surface projection effectively, while falling-off of particles is eliminated to enhance resistance to wear.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To neatly take up a broad film after being made into the film and further realize the favorable planeness of a product by a method wherein the thickness of the film is set to be more than a specified thickness and the ratio between the surface roughnesses of the front and of the surfaces of the film is set to be a specified value or less. SOLUTION: The thickness of a biaxially oriented polyester film is limited to be 50μm or more, preferably to 70μm or more and more preferably to 100μm or more. The ratio between the surface roughness Ra of the front and of the rear surfaces of the film must be 1.3 or less, preferably 1.255 or less and more preferably 1.2 or less. When the ratio between the surface roughnesses of the front and of the rear surfaces of the film goes wide of the above-mentioned range, unpreferably poor conveyability at the process of the film and poor taken-up state at the cutting of a product. Polyester, which is enough dried, is fed to various extruders and passed through a filter, which is selected in response to necessity, and melt-extruded through a mouthpiece slit into a shape of a film. The filmy polyester is quenched and solidified into an amorphous state by being cast on a casting film, the temperature of which is controlled to be 20-60 deg.C.
