    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain crystallized zirconia sol in a dispersant essentially comprising dimethylformamide and/or dimethylacetoamide, and the sol soluble with polymers and suitable for producing synthetic resin containing crystallized zirconia particles. CONSTITUTION:For example, dimethylformamide and/or dimethyl acetoamide is added to water-based zirconia sol, heated and dehydrated to obtain crystallized zirconia sol dispersed in a dispersant essentially comprising dimethylformamide and/or dimethylacetoamide.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain stable crystalline zirconia sol having minute particle diameter and eliminating secondary aggregation, by heating an aq. suspension contg. zirconium hydroxide at a specified temp. to obtain an aq. suspension contg. crystalline zirconia, by adding acid to this aq. suspension, by evaporating to dryness and by adding the produced solid lump to an aq. solvent. CONSTITUTION:The aq. suspension contg. zirconium hydroxide is heated at >=80 deg.C and kept at the heating condition until the crystallinity of the produced zirconia becomes >=80%, to obtain the aq. suspension contg. crystalline zirconia. Then, the aq. suspension is added with acid and evaporated to dryness, and then, the obtd. solid lump is added to the aq. solvent. The aq. suspension contg. zirconium hydroxide may contain hydroxide of other element able to form solid soln. with zirconia (Y is the most pref.). As the acid to be added above- mentioned, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid are pref. By the method above-mentioned, crystalline zirconia sol can be produced in industrial mass- production.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively hydrogenate the benzene nuclei in aromatic compound in the presence of a gas containing nitrogen monoxide by using a catalyst including iron and phosphorus. SOLUTION: Aromatic compounds (for example, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, diethylbenzene, chlorotoluene or the like) and a nitrogen monoxide gas are brought into contact with the catalyst including iron and phosphorus (preferably iron phosphate, iron aluminophospate), preferably in the vapor phase to effect hydroxylation thereby producing phenolic compounds. The reaction temperature is 200-450 deg.C, the composition of the reaction gas comprises the nitrogen monoxide and aromatic compounds at a molar ratio of 0.01-10, the contact ratio of the aromatic compounds to the catalyst is preferably adjusted to 0.001-1.0 mol/g catalyst.hour.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to stably produce trioxane useful as a raw material for producing polyoxymethylene (co)polymers in a state inhibiting the initial deterioration in the activity of a trioxane synthesis catalyst by using a specific cation exchange material as the trioxane synthesis catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing trioxane comprises bringing (B) formaldehyde (e,g. an aqueous solution containing the formaldehyde in a concentration of 30-75wt.%) into contact with (A) a cation exchange material preliminarily treated with an aqueous solution containing formaldehyde or trioxane (e.g. in a concentration of 35-75wt.%) (preferably the cation exchange material whose acidic groups are lost in an amount of approximately 1-30mol.% based on the initially held acidic groups) preferably at a temperature of 70-150 deg.C. The method enables to prevent the clouding of the aqueous formaldehyde solution in the reaction system, prevent the lowering in the production yield of the trioxane, and inhibit the corrosion of installations.

CONSTITUTION:This isomerizing catalyst for a xylene containing ethylbenzene comprises a catalyst having >=2g adsorption of p-xylene based on 100g zeolite in adsorbing p-xylene at 120 deg.C under vapor pressure of p-xylene at 0-2 deg.C and requiring >=2,000 minutes for adsorbing o-xylene at 120 deg.C under vapor pressure of o-xylene at 0-2 deg.C until the adsorption reaches 30 % adsorption ability of p-xylene. The catalyst is used to provide a method for isomerizing a xylene.
