Abstract: The object of the present invent:ion is to provide a method for efficiently resolving optical isomers. The object of the present invention can be achieved by a method for resolving optical isomers, in which an discriminating liquid consisting of an discriminating agent capable of discriminating optical isomers and a diluent is brought into contact with a mixture containing said optical isomers in counter current, to resolve the optical isomers by adsorption separation, distillation separation, absorption separation or membrane separation, and is recovered at an optical isomer content of 5 wt% or less for recycled use, characterized by satisfying one or move of the following conditions (a) The dielectric constant of the diluent is 30 or less and the viscosity of the discriminating liquid is 0.2 Pa's or less at the temperature of the resolving operation. (b) The discriminating agent contained has an effect of splitting the 1H or 13C-NMR spectrum peak of the optical isomers when added and the diluent contained has a dielectric constant equal to or lower than the dielectric constant of the measuring solvent at the time of measuring the 1H or 13C-NMR spectrum. (c) The boiling point of at least one compound of the discriminating agent at the pressure of resolving operation is higher than the boiling point of at least one compound of the diluent at the pressure of resolving operation. (d) The boiling point of at least one compound of the diluent at the pressure of resolving operation is higher than the boiling point of the optical isomers to be resolved, at the pressure of resolving operation by 10.degree.C or more. (e) The concentration of,the discriminating agent in the discriminating liquid is 10 wt% or more.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method effectively adsorption separating optical isomers by introducing a mobile phase including an identifier to a packed bed and pulling out the liquid. SOLUTION: This adsorption separating method comprises introducing the mobile phase including the identifier comprising an optically active compound identifying at least two kinds of the (A) optical isomer and (B) optical isomer and having at least two asymmetric carbons, into the endless packed bed accommodating porous absorbents inside, having liquid passes at the front and rear end and circulating the liquid in one direction, and pulling out the liquid including separated compounds from the packed bed. As for the packed bed, an introduction port for the mobile phase, a pulling out port for fluid (raffinate) including a compound weakly interacting with the identifying agent, an introduction port for the optical isomer and a pulling out port for the liquid (extract) including a compound strongly interacting with the identifying agent are arranged in the flowing direction of the fluid and a pseud mobile bed system which moves intermittently in sequence is used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for racemizing an optically active compound, capable of profitably and efficiently racemizing the optically active compound by a non-complicated process without requiring a separation process, etc., by bringing the optically active compound into contact with a cation-containing inorganic porous material. SOLUTION: This method for racemizing an optically active compound comprises bringing (A) an optically active compound, preferably an optically active carboxylic acid, an optically active halocarboxylic acid, a carboxylic acid derivative, etc., into contact with (B) a cation-containing inorganic porous material. The component B is preferably an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal-containing zeolite, especially the zeolite having fine pores having >=12 skeletal oxygen atom-membered fine pore diameters, concretely faujasite type zeolite.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate optical isomers useful for an agrochemical, a medicine, a food, etc., adsorptively by making a zeolite in contact with an optically active compound containing a hetero atom and having an optically active site on a specific portion of the hetero atom, and optical isomers. SOLUTION: This method for adsorptively separating optical isomers, is to make a zeolite in contact with an optically active compound containing a hetero atom and having an optically active site on at least one of a α-, β- and γ-positions of the hetero atom, and optical isomers to be separated. As the zeolite, it is preferable to have >=10 atoms of the number of oxygen at an opened ring of a pore. As the optically active compound containing a hetero atom is preferably an optically active menthol derivative expressed by formula I (R is a 1-6C alkyl, an acyl or the like) or formula II [X1, X2 are each O, S or N; (n) is 2-6]. As the optically active isomers to be separated, a carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof (e.g.; 1, 2-cyclopropanedicarboxylic acid or 1,2- cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid) is preferable.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively separate optical isomers useful for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, food additives and the like in absorption process by using a specified absorbing agent in the separation of specified optical isomers from a mixture in a process contacting a mobile phase containing optically active compounds, the absorbing agent and the mixture containing optical isomers with each other. SOLUTION: The optical isomers are absorptively separated by using an absorbing agent which has the selective adsorption coefficient to the optical isomer (B') of the either one component A or B to be αB'/A>=2.0, in the process contacting the mobile phase containing the optically active compounds (A) (e.g.: an optically active alcohol, an optically active amine, an optically active carboxylic acid and the like), the absorbing agent and the mixture (B) containing the optical isomers with each other. Preferably, the concentration of the component A contained in the mobile phase is 5 wt.%, or more and the absorption of the component A to the absorbing agent is less than 0.03. The absorbing agent is preferably, a porous absorber (e.g.; polystyrene, silica and alumina and the like).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily obtain the subject separating agent capable of separating an optical isomer useful for agrochemicals, medicines, etc., and having strong mechanical strengths by modifying a hydroxy group of a zeolite with an optically active compound. SOLUTION: The objective separating agent is obtained by treating a hydroxy group of a zeolite (especially, a faujasite-type or a β-type zeolite) especially having >=2.1 ratio of silica/alumina (mol/mol) and preferably subjected to a dealuminination treatment with a chlorinating agent such as thionyl chloride, and modifying the chlorinated site with 1-40 wt.% optically active compound (e.g. an optically active alcohol and an optically active hydroxycarboxylic acid) based on the weight of the zeolite before the modification. Especially an optical isomer of a carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof can be separated by using the separating agent in a batch type and/or a moving bed type method.
