Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp without cracks or bursts, by improving a pincher shape and preventing an aperture edge part formed by the pincher from being acuminated, and by preventing the formation of a protrusion on the boundary between an emission tube and a sealing part. SOLUTION: A sealing part 2 of a discharge lamp 1 is constituted such that a peripheral outline formed by the first pincher of a section vertical with respect to a tube axis of a sealing part 8 of a pole bolt 4 forms approximately, an arc shape, and the maximum size of the section perpendicular to a foiled plane is larger than the size of a foil-sealing part 9 vertical to the foiled plane, and the maximum size of a section formed by the second pincher parallel to the foiled plane is smaller than the size of the foil sealing part 9 parallel to the foiled plane.
